Re: Return to Alberta's Badlands
Excuse my ignorance of Canadian Geography, but what are the Alberta Badlands? Are they like the Badlands in the Dakotas? Rather similar. A few links: https://www.thecanadianencyclopedia.ca/en/article/badlands https://www.travelalberta.com/ca/places-to-go/canadian-badlands/ https://www.theworldwonde...

Re: Return to Alberta's Badlands
Good luck! Question being that you're from outside the province do you need to hunt with an outfitter or you can hunt anywhere as long it's within the law and limits? As a non-resident, you either have to engage a guide (I am actually a Registered Guide in Alberta, but that is besides the point her...

Re: Converting a Mechanical for Practice
When I was testing the 125 grain Spitfires from my 380, I simply sacrificed a package to do so. Banded them, shot them into targets, used vise grips to straighten the blades enough to close, re-band and re-shoot. At the end of the day I then replaced the blades and little dimple clips with an inexpe...

Re: opening day delay
I am right on with that voice of experience!! Our season has been open here about a month. At this point, I don't even have a tag. Bow season came and went, but as usual that means very little to me as I usually run the bow in gun season anyway. Been too warm to get me to thinking about it ye...

Return to Alberta's Badlands
Yep, heading back to Mulie Paradise again this fall. :D Leaving middle of October, and head back just into November. Some may recall my love affair with that area, and the GIANT Mulies it holds! Well, my Island Hunting Partner simply could not stand looking at those massive racks I brought home over...

Dr. Sirrup 4x4 Cocker
They are apparently out of stock for the moment. My Partner pretty much needs one to cock the big Bulldog he collected. If anyone here has one they would consider parting with, or even simply lending for our impending Alberta Mule Deer Hunt, it would be most Appreciated! Have one on order, already p...

Hunting Companies Respond to Recent Ban on Urine-Based Deer Lures
US sourced, but does address many of the concerns related to CWD and the use of urine based lures:

Re: .003 Vs .001 ?
I shoot 2.5" groups at 100 yards consistently with my Matrix 380.
The ONLY arrows I have shot to date from that bow came from the wonderful work bench of Big John.
And those are crafted from .001 Zombie Slayers.
I will never purchase anything else. Period.
Cheers,
Nog

Re: correct broadheads
Never heard of a Spitfire not opening.
Never happened to me with the several dozen deer my Matrix has taken.
Rather unusual.
And I will keep on using the 125 grain Spitfires as they have produced more than excellent results for me every single time.
Cheers,
Nog

Re: Hawke Scope Rings
I really did not like the Hawke medium rings on my Matrix 380. Made the scope sit higher than I prefer. Simply went with the stock Excalibur rings that came with the bow instead. Kept my cheek weld where I want it. Despite some rather rough treatment, she has maintained zero for years now. Cheers, Nog

Re: The broad broadhead discussion
... Most folks switch away from Bolt Cutters because of availability at their local shops... And others based on performance. I found they left very little in the way of a blood trail. Also had the longest retrieval I've ever experienced using them. That despite taking both lungs and a pass through...
