Re: Lunch of Champions

Looks good, and satisfying. Suppose we don't really have a traditional lunch while hunting. Spaghetti made with combinations of deer and/or wild pork sausage has become somewhat traditional for hunting dinners though.

Re: Jerky

Picked up a new smoker recently and just ran my first set of trials for jerky. I tried 4 different marinades. All batches turned out great. In order of my preferences - Dale's, Lawry's Cajun, Allegro wild game, Lawry's teriyaki. Most could not decide a clear favorite and no one disliked any of them....

Re: Venting and asking for input

You're not the only one with this issue by a long shot. I have learned to always try to get work orders in writing, even if only with a confirmation text message. Never by phone alone. For a smaller ticket item, many people are going to figure you're not going to bother running down the payment so t...

Re: Hurricanes...here we go again

Lots of trees and limbs down but no substantial damage. Cleaned up yard today. Piles won't burn though because even dead wood is saturated. Power out since Sunday night. Running generator for well, frig, freezer, and phone recharge intermittently. Lots of flooding. Creek blew out highway by house bu...

Re: Hurricanes...here we go again

Good luck GB and all others affected. We have been closely following the projected path with each update. Already got the generator out of the shed, ran it, and put it on the back porch. Have 3 cans of ethanol-free gas for it. Other necessities stocked up, cash, water, ice, propane for grill, candle...

Re: Doe tags

If I get to bow hunt this year (work), almost unlimited in terms of does in the republic of North Florida. Northern guys don't feel so bad though. I net about 20 lbs or so of ground meat from my does. :)

Re: Some excalibur hating at my local shop

Always drama at the bow shops. More so, I have found, than at the gun shops. Perhaps because archery equipment is more personal? You here some chatter about personal favorites between say Leupold and Nikon, or Remington 700 and Winchester Model 70, but it's not the same DAMN YOU TO HELL attitude tha...

Re: My meat grinder Sucks!

I got tired of the shenanigans with the meat places and ordered a cabelas 1 hr grinder about 5 years ago. Foot pedal is helpful. Also got a meat packing set up from southern Indiana butcher supply. Whole process is a snap. Would like to experiment with making summer sausage and the little sticks if ...

Curious. What we call redeyes (slang term) in NC Florida are recognized as stump knockers or spotted sunfish. Small but thick river bream that are very good for those who don't mind a small bream fried whole. :)
