New rope for C2
I want to replace the rope on my C2 crank. I purchased 1/8" and then 7/64" Amsteel rope and it would not fit through the holes in the spool. Is there a secret to getting this through? Not looking to drill the holes bigger, so maybe I will go with the 5/64 Amsteel or the 2mm dynaglide, whic...

Re: New X-Bow Set Up Help Requested
You will need a stringer to adjust brace height. Also, bumpers if you do not have them already. A rope cocking device as well. A good scope as well and solid mounts are a must. Also, the Excalibur quiver works for me, but some may suggest others. The correct arrows and length will be provided by the...

Congrats - any deer with a bow, be it a vertical bow or a crossbow is a good deer.

Beautiful deer and a testament to how tough these animals are, even after the pass through shot, the deer still covered a long distance.

Re: To Shoot or Not to Shoot???
Sounds like you made the right choice - that is the one you can be comfortable with and sleep well knowing you did not take a chance on something that could go wrong. Deer are very tough and unpredictable, so no telling how far it would go, even if you did get a good hit on it. Losing a deer that yo...

Re: Rained out opener.
When bow hunting, whether with vertical or crossbow, it's wise to hunt when tracking conditions after the shot are ideal. With rain, tracking conditions are less than ideal, so it's good to sit it out until conditions are right.

Re: How and what color can deer really distinguish
Orange does not standout to a deer as it does to humans. The red/orange part of the color spectrum is more dull gray to a deer vision based on scientific studies. I have had deer look right at me walking within 10 feet while I was sitting still on the ground with a favorable wind. If you wanted to c...

Re: Arrow holder spring tension
Just a word of caution,(especially in hunting situations)it is easy to lose track of making sure everything is in order before taking a shot if you are in too much of a hurry. Please be careful to make sure your arrow is pushed back snug as far as it can go before shooting. This is important to chec...

Re: Turkey day molested by the lady warden
Wow, that makes no sense.
As far as I know, even NY as bad as it is for everything else, allows for naturally made blinds, i.e. branches and brush.
How did your state come up with that rule?

Re: First time turkey hunting
I don't hunt Turkeys much anymore, however, I used to have great success in Delaware County NY every spring. Patience is the key. If you don't have one come in to you right away after you hear him gobble, don't despair, and don't move. If you are hunting a field, set up about five yards off the fiel...

Re: Excalibur Matrix 330
So it is not just the direction of the twist of the string. It is that plus the serving direction.
I always go counter clockwise to shorten and have a Excalibur OEM string, so how can I know if I put it on wrong and twist it wrong?

Re: Excalibur Matrix 330
Can you explain the twisting in the wrong direction issue? In order to shorten brace height isn't there only one way to twist the string?
Thanks for the info, I'm constantly trying to learn.

Re: crossbow choice or necessity ?
I use one now because it is finally legal in NY, if only for two weeks; my Excalibur works better for me than my Mission vertical bow. At some point the NY state DEC will allow crossbows for the entire archery season, however, it won't be happening this year. Everyone eventually gets old, gets weake...
