Re: Crossbow Recommendation for a Newb
I love crossbows as much as anyone but your range will be limited to probably 40 yards or less for coyote. At those ranges you'd be better off with a 17hmr or 22mag. Quiet, more accurate (head shots at those distances) and effective inside 50 yards also probably cheaper than a crossbow as well. If y...

Re: FOC users. ??
I sighted in with the 170 field points first and than let fly with the FOC once at 30 yards. Was within 1/2 inch so I left it at that. I read somewhere that the FOC can be fired into the 18-1 2 or 3 times before damage occurs. There must be some truth to this as the FOC that was shot into my 18-1 ha...

405 and 170 FOCs get #3
Headed out at 3pm this afternoon in my ghillie suit for a ground hunt. At about 4pm I came across a group of scrapes and decided to stake them out for a while. Sat down behind a stump about about 20 yards from the nearest scrape. At 4:45 pm a spike came in and started working on the farthest scrape ...

Impressed with the hound yet again.
So I recently posted about how my hound found a deer for me on the weekend. Well today I gave him the broad head and put him on the trail of my bolt. Took him about 20 minutes and this several days later with rain in between. http://i1363.photobucket.com/albums/r719/Joe_Miedema/P1310062_zpsf4f861e7....

Re: M405 Accuracy
I think you mean sub one inch groups as sub "zero" would be pretty interesting. I know I'm a smart A$$.Boo wrote:I can't say about your proposed set up, but I can tell you that the 405 is capable of sub zero inch groups at 50 yards with broadheads.

Re: Deer Tag for WMU 80
Assuming he means WMU 80 in Ontario this is primarily the area north of the K-W area up to Mount Forest. Off the top of my head it includes Fergus, Elora, Arthur, Guelph, Erin and a few others.

I ordered mine from my local hunting shop in Orangeville. He does not stock them but could get them within 2 days when asked.

Re: The new Vortex cross bow scope - anyone have one?
H2D covered it pretty well. I have had one on my 405 for about 2 months and love it. In fact last week I picked up a second one to replace the Twilight on my 380. By far the best scope I have ever used on a crossbow for low light conditions. First time I used it was in the rain and at 30 minutes pas...

That was last winter after doing about 5 miles in 3 foot deep powder snow. I had snowshoes but the hound didn't.xcaliber wrote:The pooch looks plum tuckered out there!

Re: WTF
Did you happen to find the missing bolt shaft? Glad to hear the hound could track him. Extra dog treats for that boy! Never found the shaft so can't really piece together what happened. Hound is a walker cross, mostly walker but some rottweiler mixed in there somewhere. http://i1363.photobucket.com...
