Re: Increased range with 405?
Hi5 Kegbelly is right on and here is more insight to my thought process. I did some digging on the web so see what was out there regarding deer reaction time. With new cameras, it is not hard to get a really good picture of what can happen, with some pretty accurate times. Still, every scenario is d...

Re: Increased range with 405?
Strictly speaking in terms of "Deer Reaction Time".....assuming deer reacts to sound (ie calm not looking at you) Deer Reaction Time (Tr) = Time for Arrow - Time for Sound Calculating this time at the rated Excal Bow speeds for a 30yd shot: (30yds chosen as "many" feel this is an...

Re: NAP Broadheads
In my experience, if you have good straight arrows that spin true with adequate fletching you can have any BH (fixed or mech) hit with field points. Fixed BHs are MUCH less forgiving than most mechs so it taked more work. The Spitfires should be about dead on with your FPs as Vixenmaster says with a...

Re: bag targets
I've shot the same Morrell Yellowjacket Crossbow target for years. I'm on the 3rd cover. I think it's different from the other yellowjackets.

Re: Heavy arrows for Aus buff
Thanks again, as mentioned I am not overly advanced and my post was probably a bit misleading- 500-550 is where I was aiming as opposed to the 700+ which will be something for later. I was thinking I might try some of the 20" alum 2219 352 grain arrows as advertised and put a decent broadhead ...

Re: Heavy arrows for Aus buff
I take another smaller arrow shaft that fits inside the one I,m shooting an add the brass insert an gives you a good stiff ,heavy, deadly accurate arrow. I like this too - but above he said he hasn't built arrows in the past. For my own interest, do you put the insert in the bigger arrow first, and...

Re: Heavy arrows for Aus buff
Thanks all I will look into the arrow modification side of things as suggested. That is a new area for me and have not tinkered much with arrows before. Also could one of the heavy 250-300 grain broadheads on the markets be added to a regular diablo arrow for greater effect? Or is this not necessar...

Easton FMJ shaft Brass Insert Blazer vanes 100gr G5 Montec CS total wt = 525gr Put the BH through on all 3 shots, 1 complete passthru This year I am upping it by 50gr by switching the BH to a 2 blade Magnus Stinger. Another thought...........the "Ghost Blind" - runner looks very intriguing to me. Especially for late season.

Re: Tree stands or Ground a Blinds...
Due to fact cross bow allows for very minimal movement i've had great sucess sitting on ground in Gillie suit. Shure saves all the stand work and allows you to really play the wind. Love the pop up blinds for miserable weather for sure, but rest of time I like flexibility to move about. X2 IMO this...

Re: O/T Made a PVC Pipe Bow This Weekend
Since I had to buy 10' of pipe, I made a second one last night and added a paracord wrap handle and used an old, small allen wrench for a rest. I finally found a use for some of those cheap allen wrenches that you get when you buy certain things that need to go together. For some reason I never toss...

Re: An explanation of the Triggertech's trigger
Just got the 2 stage and love it. 2.5 pounds is not a lot of pressure so I like the added safety the 2 stage offers. The take up is very small. If you hunt in cold temps, and have gloves on it will be hard to notice.

Re: O/T Made a PVC Pipe Bow This Weekend
That XBow is pretty cool. Interesting how he just lets the arrow ride on the fletches. I'm sure if I made the bow I made from 1" pipe I could certainly kill a deer with it with a heavy enough arrow. But I wanted something light to work on my release and form. I actually might make one from 1/2&...
