Re: Scope recommendations for 335

Wow, 1200 yards! Here in the East it’s hard to find even a 200-yard stretch to safely shoot a rifle.

“FUBARed beyond repair.“

Hee hee! There’s a technical term I haven’t heard in several decades! :)

I think it must have died out with the WWII veterans...

For what it’s worth, I use Safari on iPhone SE and Chrome on Chromebook, and have no issues with either platform.

Re: Chronographing Excaliburs

You gonna hunt opening day here in North Carolina, Keith? Between the heat and humidity and chiggers and skeeters, I don’t even think about hunting here in the South anymore, until mid-October.

Re: New optics. New learning lesson.

Yeah, I recently discovered the old rail is also too narrow to clamp 30mm scope rings on as well. I had to use some hillbilly engineering and add some brass shims. It seems to be holding...

Re: Best target

Burlap sack with cloth scraps from a local textile mill is the best I’ve found for field points. Way better than any foam. For broad heads - which I only shoot infrequently to double-check POI - just go to Tractor Supply and ask them for those big blocks of styrofoam they get in with their trailers....

What’s the maximum draw weight you would consider?

Here’s a question to ponder: Fifteen years ago the average draw weight was 150-165 lbs. Only a few folks used a rope cocked. Now, to stay in the speed-race with the wheelie bows, the bow weight’s increased over 100 lbs. and everyone uses a rope cocker or crank. As Excalibur increases the poundage mo...

Dang it, Carnivorous why’d you have to bring this to our attention?

Re: DIY Tick Spray

X2 on diluting the stuff from Tractor Supply. They call it “Livestock and Premise Spray”. It’s 10% Permethrin. Dilute it ten-to-one. A $12 quart bottle has lasted me several years. I just heard on the radio that Lymes Disease is found in all 50 states, and is now the fastest-growing vector-borne Dis...

Re: What broadhead are you using

Never heard of the Qad Exodus, but they look like a good, strong broad head design. Nice thing about the Slick Tricks is they’re 4-blade cutters. In recent years I converted from mechanical to fixed. Last year I tried an over-sized two-blade, single-bevel cut-on-contact head. It’s made by Centaur Ar...
