Hey, Kinger ... I can't comment on the performance of mechanicals, as I've never used one. Not against them, just never had one to use. I have, however, put many a hole in many a deer with traditional fixed broadheads of all kinds, in both the cut-on-contact and puncture-tip (Muzzy type) variety ......

NOTE: The hunt was on my farm, and I'll look for the arrow later. I know just where she was when shot. Since I live here, and since the beans are a long way from picking, I can wait. Wanted to butcher her first, and now I've got some work to do. Maybe tomorrow ... but I'll get it. Good to mention th...

STUNG ONE WITH A WASP! (First Xbow Deer)
It was misting rain this morning and I was in my stand thinking of the work I should have been doing instead, when I saw a big old doe standing in the bean field about 150 yards away ... way too far from me to do anything about with a crossbow. She didn't seem inclined to move much, as she was happi...

Let Her Walk Again!
There I was, making my way along the North Farm path, in between a green soybean field and a freshly cut cornfield ... and as I ghosted along in my leafy Bugtamer suit, Little Mama slipped out in front of me, about forty yards away across the canal, with Juinor in tow. She knew I was something unusu...

Hey, Crazyfarmer ... Yeah, but I don't think you'd use a dumb law like ours as an excuse to hunt property you had no permission to hunt, would you? Trust me, that is EXACTLY what these good ol' boys down here do. They're liars who have no respect for property rights ... takers and abusers who contri...

World's Stupidest Hunting Law
Hey, Ya'll ... What's the dumbest hunting law you can think of? Here where I live, it's legal (meaning it's not illegal) to hunt state road right-of-ways (meaning the actual road itself) even if you don't have the permission of adjoining landowners or those whose land the road runs through. Yes, tha...

Hey, Fudster ... Hunt that corn while it stands! Get in there and walk across from row to row real slow, pausing to look up and down each row you cross ... lots of deer are stalked and killed in standing corn. The rustling of the leaves often makes it possible to sneak along without detection ... an...

Just Passed Up A Sure-Shot
A little earlier today I was in hunting mode and here came a nice sleek doe's head bobbing above the soybeans, and thinking to put some good eating meat in the freezer, I made ready for the shot when she got past and was slightly quartering away. My Exomax strained at the sear mechanism; my broadhea...

Sorry About Montreal School Shooting
Hey, Ya'll ... Just heard about this tragedy on the news, and wanted to extend my sympathies on behalf of American hunters concerning your loss. I have heard the the USA isn't all that popular with a lot of Canucks ... don't know how ya'll feel about us, personally, but I want to say that I consider...

Man, LV2HNT, if I sat down in a pine thicket around here, the redbugs would put up a buffet sign! I would DEFINITELY regret that! Where you at in the Old Dominion commonwealth? I have friends in the Tidewater region, around Bumpass northwest of Richmond, in Charlottesville, in the highlands at Burke...

My hunting is almost exclusively from the ground. I've killed more than 75 deer on the ground, with a variety of weapons. Stopped counting. We've got lots of deer, but a challenging situation, because the brush is so very thick around here. In many places, if you're in a treestand, the only thing yo...

Excellent Target, Excellent Customer Service!
Hey, Folks ... Saw the other post about a target discovery, and read all the talk about what works good and what doesn't, and thought the time was right to gve a report on a new target I've been shooting lately. It's from a company called PACIFIC BOW BUTTS ... actually, THEY are. I've got two, the s...
