Re: Anyone using the Limb Saver package for crossbows?

Those were on my bow when I bought it (bought it used). One of the limbsavers flew off one day while practicing in the back yard, threw the shot way off to one side. Had it been a deer it would have been a real bad shot or maybe even a miss. I never could get it to stick again no matter what kind of...

Re: Watch Your Step !!!

Sheesh! We got our share of rattlers down here too but (knock on wood) I haven't ran across one yet in the woods. I killed a 36" copperhead back in April though, it was sunning on a greenfield. Tanned the hide and made a purty nice hat band!

Re: GPS question

X2 on the Garmin handheld GPS units. I have a Vista HCX. Its about 3-4 years old now and I have been extremely well pleased with it. If it isn't standard by now on all Garmin units, try to look for one with the 'high sensitivity' GPS chip, it makes a difference. I turn mine on in the truck on the wa...

Re: Chronographed my bow today

I have had my Exocet 7 years now, it has been dryfired 3 times, never been unstrung. I have the original arrow that I built for it 7 years ago to run over a chrony. The bow started at 301FPS and still today, after being frozen, heated beyond manufactures recommendation, dry fired, dropped, dragged ...

Re: Chronographed my bow today

I think with the forward riser and that combo you'd be closer to 350, it basically becomes the exomax at that point. That's what I was after on the cheap... :D

Re: Chronographed my bow today

Wheelie, the shims on your riser, can you elaborate? Does that kind of mimic the effect of the forward riser? I actually called Danny Miller a while back to ask about 'upgrading' mine with the forward riser, his first question was "why?" Long story short he talked me out of it, but the shi...

Re: Chronographed my bow today

Wheelie, Some time back while digging through the forum in search of info on my own exomag I ran across a post that had sort of a timeline for the 'mag with specifics on each model. It was great information but I can't find it again now. But IIRC there were like 3 iterations of the bow... carved lim...

Re: Chronographed my bow today

Thanks Wes, I have tried higher brace heights... it did seem to shoot a bit softer or smoother but I felt like it slowed the bow down some too, my POI drops as the BH is raised. I've tried to strike a happy medium between maximum speed and still being pleasant/fun to shoot, while still maintaining t...

Re: Chronographed my bow today

Did Exomag come with a forward riser on them? I have only one mark on my Exomag for brace height. To my knowledge no, but I'm certainly no expert. My understanding is that the riser was changed to the forward style when the exomag was dropped and replaced with the exomax, the new riser gave 225# an...

Re: Chronographed my bow today

BH is about as low as I can go with the S5 on there, string is just past the halfway point between the brace marks. With my bow being older the S5 didn't fit the riser properly, they're made for the newer risers where the inside angles are straight, whereas mine has a slight inside radius toward the...

Chronographed my bow today

So after owning and shooting this Exomag for nearly 6 years I finally decided to chronograph it for curiosity sake just to see what it actually does with my full hunting setup. I know it's plenty fast and wicked accurate but I just wanted to know, ya know, I wanted a number to put with it. With the ...

Re: treestands and cocking your bow?

Kegbelly....I got a visual while I was reading your description of trying to cock your bow ..im still laughing Yeah I guess it's kinda funny now but not so much then! I swear I heard a deer laughing in the woods. Maybe it's another one of those things you should practice in case you do get th...
