Re: PVC Deer Feeder

I made the bump feeder using a plastic pail. Wow, the squirrels destroyed that plastic pail in less than two days. Can't find metal pails anymore. Use to get them from the chip wagon in my town but potatoes even come in plastic pails now.

Any ideas?

X3! USPS to CPS is the cheapest.

Re: WILD HOGS IN SASKATCHEWAN

What do they taste like compared to domestic pigs? Wonder why they haven't appeared in Ontario (not that I'm hoping for any)?

Merry Christmas Bugs. I haven't been on the Board much either so it's nice to hear things went reasonably well for your family this fall.

Re: Are tags still available?

No tags left for zone 80. I think they ran out right before the slug season. Not to highjack the thread but are the numer of tags down? I'm sure this has been discussed so I apologize for a repeat question. I shot a deer during the gun hunt assuming I could purchase another tag for the rest of the a...

Re: Fawns nursing in November!!

Almost every doe I shoot in November is still milking. I try to target dry does but the deer population is growing in my area so there are very few dry does. By late December I target the yearlings because it's likely easier on the population and the yearlings have grown significantly.

Re: Try this rut formula this year ....

Well I purposely sat out in my climbing stand on Friday with just that "seeking behaviour" in mind. Turned out it was a beautiful day and the only thing the bucks in my area were seeking was sunlight and sleep.

That is a great idea. Gives you a direction of travel and a good chance of finding your deer upon your return.

I don't pray much to be honest, Ray but I'll say one for you! I do my best thinking/praying in a deer stand but the ice fishing shack will have to do. Take Care.

Re: GPS

I'm not up on this but I'm sure somebody will be. Navionics has an inexpensive app for cellphones that will give you GPS and updated maps for $8.00 a year. Not sure if it's comparable or not.

Re: Deer in Southern Ontario

It'll be interesting to see how the MNR adjusts the additional tag limits. I still think the herd is down and the number of tags should be reduced. I just wonder how much of a CASH COW those extra tags are for the Ministry (and their budgets are going to be cut again!). Might not be able to reduce t...

Re: Who scouts ?

It's great scouting now with so little snow. Walking is unusually easy. I like to take a look and get a feel for how many deer survived the hunting. I know they move most winters so my numbers are definitely inaccurate. I've noticed this year I have a coyote and a red fox in the area, daily. Never s...
