Re: Scope too far back
Another option would to put a Nikon Bolt Xr CB scope on your bow. This would place the rear end of the scope approximately where yours is currently. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a390/Travis299/IMG_0220_zpscedacc10.jpg I see that you had to file another notch to get that scope to fit. Good to k...

Dog House blind
Ok so I ordered one today for next year deer hunting.Seems I've read a few threads on here some of you really like them so I'm gonna try one as a backup to my treestands. Do any of you shoot through the mesh screen? Can I wear camo in it? I think somewhere I read you gotta wear black.Well I g...

Re: I mounted my Nikon XR Bolt scope
It says on the Nikon web site on this scope that you can pull up on the turrets and reset to 0 after you are sighted in.I did not do this but want to know if its necessary and why???

Re: I mounted my Nikon XR Bolt scope
I just got done sighting it in.took about 6 shots.I did this all off hand at 20 yds in a slight breeze.I will use a bench next spring to see if I need to fine tune a hair.I don't really know if its any better though then my vari zone. That scope is just as accurate. The glass looks clearer though.I gu...

Re: I mounted my Nikon XR Bolt scope
Mine is probably only about a couple inches back farther then deerstalker.I bring it up like I do a rifle with my eyes closed then open em.If everything looks good, and feels good I tighten the rings at that point.I have a scope on my Browing A-bolt I have to stick my neck out a little bit more then ...

Re: I mounted my Nikon XR Bolt scope

Re: I mounted my Nikon XR Bolt scope
Deerstalker I moved my scope back farther then you.I would have to put my head too far forward to get the proper eye relief for me.I see your rings are longer in length and you probably ran out of tube adj. and lost that last notch? Again thats why I posted what I used to get the proper eye relief u...

I mounted my Nikon XR Bolt scope
On my Axiom.I used rifleman med rings.I mention the rings cause if you use low they won't work with this scope cause of the smaller tube agj. length. It just barely clears the top riser but it does.Looks like a nice set up.I thought this might help someone else so thats why I posted it. Now I have a ...

Re: ? for those who use the rifleman rings
Ok thanks! On my first set of Excalibur rings thay did come loose. On my second set nope as I loc tite the ring part.China made crap I guess.I think Leupold does use hex screws? On my PRW Leupold rings (made for them by Warne) pretty sure they are hex torque screws.I don't loc tite those rings. The rif...

Re: ? for those who use the rifleman rings
no loctite needed on any of those screws. your better off using a drop of oil and a torque wrench like a wheeler fat wrench. proper torque spec is whats prefered.you dont wanna crush the tube or leave ring marks. doesnt take much to hold a scope proper. using loctite just gums up the threads and ca...

? for those who use the rifleman rings
Do you put any loc tite on the screw at the bottom that attaches to the base? I will put a drop of blue on the 4 ring screws for sure. Thanks!

Re: Excalibur ring height?
I use low on mine wid me varizone On those scopes the tube is longer so the safety is under the tube part as you can move the scope back farther. You can't move the nikon back too far as no room on tube.Meaning the big part of scope will be under safety.Have to have a little roon.... unless one got ...

Excalibur ring height?
They don't say what they are.Anyone know? Reason I ask is I plan on mounting a Nikon XR bolt scope on my axiom.I usually always go low on all my rifles. But with this scope there is not much room to move it back farther on the tube. And if I don't go high enough I'm afraid the safety will be a tight s...

Why aren't the Excalibur broadheads more popular on here?
I see all kinds of threads about slicktricks,swachakers,G5 Quackouts or whatever etc.. But not many folks here seem to use the boltcutters. At least the threads I been reading.I have shot and killed 2 deer so far with my new axiom and using the 150gr fixed boltcutters.Out side of a little l...
