schnarrfuss, the grouse hunting is slow this year. I think there are quite a few around but there is just to much green stuff still in the bush to see lots. I think we need a couple of cold nights and a windy day to get rid of some of the foliage. The grouse I have seen were out on the trail picking...

I agree with wabi. Being a small stature person I find the Phoenix perfect for my size and will still dispatch any animal I want to hunt.

Try before you buy I guess. Find the one that suits your needs and feels comfortable to you.

It is a personal choice for sure.

Grouse and shockers w/Excalibur

Found out today just how powerful these crossbows really are. While out moose hunting I came upon a couple ruffled grouse. I pulled the broad head tip out of the rail and slid a shocker tipped bolt in. With the bush being still quite full I did not see the bird till I was 10 feet away. I sighted in ...

That is awesome. The only thing I could really see were your white hands.

I will have to check that out.

Excalibur Mounted Arrow Quiver

Maybe I am just cranky but does anyone find the Excalibur quiver kind of useless? 1. It is very uncomfortable while the bow is slung. 2. Very difficult to remove and replace bolts. 3. In the stand it has to come off to use a shooting stick. 4. I tried to sling it off my belt and while boonie bashing...

An old army trick I learned back in basic is let your eyes adjust. Do this by exiting any light condition and just sit and let the pupils relax. After a few minutes your night sight will appear and with a half decent moon you will be able to walk before day break with little problem. Another trick i...

As the number states, good to 550 # pull. I am sure no crossbow has that kid of pull weight. I once pulled a volkswagon from the ditch with 4 wraps and yanked away. Good stuff that para cord.

Heading out to the bush in preparation for tomorrows moose bow hunt and you guys made a decision for me. I was thinking my black Cadillac army boots but now will opt for the green sheep boots with the liners. I was unaware about sent in leather or cloth. Rubbers work for me.
