Peach Good luck in Kap. I too am heading for the bush Friday afternoon to relax and prepare for the Saturday morning hunt but was not as lucky as you with our party of 4 getting no cow or bull tag for the 14th year in a row in WMA 41. All said and done calf is fine by me....nice and tender. Again go...

I think this link was posted here a couple of weeks ago, or maybe another hunting sight.

It is a great read on canning.

Dutch I also move from spot to spot but always unload the bolt and relax the limbs while transporting as the regulations for Ontario state" A crossbow is considered loaded when bow is cocked and is loaded with a bolt is in the rail" Traveling with a crossbow in this state is illegal in Ont...

Hoss Deux Riviers is just a turn in the road. The Mad Dog Inn was closed and up for sale last time drove through there and that is about it for lodging unless you have a tent or camper to kip out at the private camp ground or maybe a large vehicle that you can crash out in for a couple of days. I th...

The first thing to do is get the carcass temp down and get it wrapped so it stays clean and bug free. Cheese cloth seems to work well. As for cooling not sure. I know cooling in lake water is a no no. I do have a walk in root cellar to use at the old logging mill but it will be no where near cool en...

Killshot I hope the temp is a little cooler 60 miles east of me as it was 23c today calling for much the same till end of the weekend and I don't think I could get a moose out of the bush fast enough to stop it from spoiling. I to am heading to the bush on the 19th and hope it cools a bit or I will ...

Thank you all that replied. I consider this thread closed now as I have taken all your suggestions and come up with a nice combination that works very well. I purchased a pack of 150g field tips and re zeroed a 20 yards then 40 yards. All was good. Took the field points off and tried the Boltcutter ...

Gogo I also use a light to get to and from my stand. I wear a peeked cap and have a 5 LED that clips on. I think I got it at the beer store a few years ago. Where you look you have light. It takes 2 dime size button batteries and last a whole season. Dollar stores sell the batteries, 3 for a buck. T...

All that replied, thanks Since my primary targets will be moose at 20 - 40 yards I will not be using mechanical BH's but tough hide piercing solid broad heads. My stand I have set up and marked arcs of fire are anywhere from 20 - 40 yards. I think my FOC is good @approx 13%, maybe a little low but a...

Bstout So what you are saying, since my primary purpose for this crossbow is hunting I should set the scope, bow and broad heads up for hunting????? Makes sense to me as I will not be using the bow for much more than hunting. I will play with it a bit next week and see what happens. Will keep the gr...
