Re: Newbie......gonna pull the trigger!!!
Welcome to the forum. As you've probably read already, both bows you are looking at are wonderful. The Vortex won't be as hard on the string serving and will be sufficient when hunting anything in North America. I enjoy shooting my Ibex, the smallest from the thumbhole family, and have amazing accur...

Re: Dissipator Bar and Pads on an Axiom
Good advice, georgiaboy. There is something like a 2db difference when using dissipator pads and bars.

Re: Excalifliction
Good question, RexKay. I don't know if the aluminum rail bow will be more valuable becuase the rail length is the same as the Ibex/Phoenix so anyone who wanted an aluminum rail instead of composite could get one. The concept of a bow appreciating in value is intersting though and I'm not surprised t...

Re: Slowly getting some bling
Is the cheek piece adjustable at all? The cheek piece isn't really adjustable. On many of the newer bows there is a hole drilled and tapped in the top of the stock and there is a matching hole in the top of the cheek piece. You can snap it on without screwing it in, if that's the case, there is a l...

Re: How many MPH is our arrows flying.
Cool thought. I just researched this a few days ago. There's actually an online calculator that will do the math for you at the following site: www.unitarium.com/speed
When I checked the speed of my bow it was approximately 200 mph.
Regards,

Good one, Cossak. Usually if you look around the shop long enough and think outside the box, something will make life easier.

Re: Best broadhead for turkeys?
Hey guys, Really good post! I've wondered for a while about the ability to use the Gobbler Guillotine with a crossbow. Would the guillotine's blades open prior to clearing the riser and damage the riser or throw the arrow off target? Has anyone tried shooting a guillotine or similar product with an ...

Re: S5 Noise Surpression????
Hey Derek, Thanks for the S5 news. I wish I had shot the bow immediately prior to installing the S5 and then immediately after putting it on to have a better comparative observation. Excitement got the best of me and I installed the system last night and shot the bow this afternoon; the last time I ...

Re: S5 Noise Surpression????
Thanks for replying folks. The parts of the S5 themselves are very well manufactured and I will keep it on in case of a dryfire. Thanks also for the arrow retainer thought, Boo. I know there have been some posts about this before so I'll do a little research to find out how to mitigate that possibil...

S5 Noise Surpression????
Hey folks, I just test fired my bow with the S5 that I installed last night and I have a few questions. How much quieter is the bow supposed to be with the S5? I have an Ibex and I left the dissipator bars and pads on to try and make the bow as quiet as possible. When I fired it this afternoon the S...

Re: Axiom crossbow question
I shoot the Ibex, also a 175 lbs. bow, with Boltcutters with no problem. I've referenced a post by Bill T. a few times. What I understood him to say was that the best way to keep the fixed blade broadheads hitting the target accurately was to increase the FOC and that could be achieved by increasing...

Re: Cheek Piece install ??????
The cheekpiece is difficult to put on and it needs to be. If it was loose then it would be prone to wobbling while shooting if it wasnt' screwed in. As for adjusting it while it's on the bow, I used a short piece of 2x4 and tapped it GENTLY with a mallet to move it slowly with no problems. Glad to h...

Re: Slowly getting some bling
Hey folks, When I added the cheekpiece to my Ibex I noticed an immediate improvement in my accuracy whilst shooting from a standing position. I think it's because it anchors to my face better when I shoot. Also, I added an S5 I bought at the Sportsman show this evening. I'm excited to try it out tom...

Re: Composite stock Excalibur, Axiom SMF
The Axiom introduced last year had the same rail as the rest of the models. The rail being discussed in this post is the new model and can be seen when you click on Axiom (in the left hand margin) on the Excalibur Homepage.
