Deer Call

I'm using a Remington Deer call. It sounds like a kazoo. Pretty brutal. I'm looking for a good grunt tube, and I'm going to toss this one. It's actually terrible. I can't even use it without laughing to myself....

Unopened Garvin road..

I spoke with Brian Arbuckle...it's a no go, can get onto the land unless you've got a hovercraft by the sounds of it. It's landlocked on all sides and flooded. "you'll have to wait to the winter until the water freezes to check it out."... I don't think so. There's another 33 acres for sal...

Blinds...

I hunker down behind a camo blind myself, and have done so for the past 2 seasons. It's small, and quick to setup. Oddly enough, the deer don't seem to pick up on it terribly. It's just a small ground blind but it sure minimizes the small movements we're prone to after a few hours.... Some problems ...

Excellent

Those are some excellent references! I will be printing those out (the pics too) and keeping them for future reference. Again, I can't believe the knowledge to be gained from sharing in this forum. Fantastic!
It certainly answers alot of the questions I had. Thanks!!

Holy...

I have a bit over 300 acres myself and also another 200-300 next door. Most of the best hunting is a good walk in but worth it. I am not in the habit of letting people on my land at all, let alone to hunt. But...... I am a X O.P.P. officer myself so feel I should help you all if I can. I live strig...

Land...

We've approached some of the neighbourhing lands. We're a group of firefighters/police, and were well received on personal level, but so far, many of them aren't too warm to the idea of hunting. Not too surprising, but given the amount of crop damage, this sentiment may change. The quest continues. ...

Losing our land...

Well, it was bound to happen. Our happy hunting ground in Lanark, Ontario (west of Ottawa) are being sold to make way for a gravel pit. No question of buying it - over $450 000 for the 100 acres... we've been looking around but to no avail. Talk about heartbreaking. If there's anyone who has any goo...

Bleeding & Tracking

As a followup to my post in the 50yd broadside shot discussion, many of you have taken deer, and I was wondering if it is the 'norm' to find blood right away at the site of the hit? My first sign of blood was several hundred yards later... would this be due to the shot placement, or is this normal? ...

Carbons.

I too use the excalibur carbons, and when I hit my buck on Saturday, I found only about 6" of it with the fletchings, it had splintered and broke. This may not be a reflection of quality, but more than likely due to it breaking off against a tree or something? I'm paying about $42.95 CDN for a ...

Socks of choice

Burton and Bonfire socks - they're designed for snowboarding/skiing and do an incredible job of keeping the feet dry, wicking moisture and providing excelling insulation. They don't slip and bunch up. A little on the pricier side - I also have remingtons as back up. They're fairly good too.

30 Yards.

I think you're right TYE - after yesterday, I'm even more convinced. I can stack them on target at up to 40 yards, but on a 'live quarry' it's a different ball game. I can't help but think the outcome would have been different if we were hunting somewhere else in a tree stand as opposed to field wit...

40 yard broadside shot..

 Well, along these lines, here's one that just happened yesterday. Two bucks standing in the field...sighted in the large of the two 8-10 points. He began moving, and was aware of my location. I released the bolt at what I believed was to be the 'kill zone'. My scope is centered at 30yds.. I he...
