Re: Hope I don't get lost in the snow!

The effectiveness of snow camo when ground hunting in the white stuff cannot be overstated! I killed my biggest buck yet, a big SW Ontario bruiser 9-pt, on the ground in late DEC. I knew he was skirting my stands, found his escape routes, and set up downwind of one, (so late in the season couldn't s...

Re: Is This possible???

He didn't get that big by being seen! Obviously the same buck, but you really ought to get some cams up in your woods to snap some pics of this brute. It's fun to compare bucks from year to year. I have a 150" 10-pt that I have pictures of as a 8-pt last year, fun to watch them grow and put the...

Re: Newbie - some questions /S5, arrows/

Unusual wear for 150 shots on those s5 bumpers! You might want to adjust your brace height, (distance from bumper pad to the front of the string), by adding some twists to back it off the pads if they are in contact with the limbs at rest. Two string widths off the pads seems a good distance for me....

Re: What is your Favorite Camo?

I go with Cabelas brand every time. You being in MI, it's a huge convenience to to to the store and try stuff on. I make the drive over all the time. I have two pairs: rubber unisulated. Scent-free and perfect for all kinds of activity and hunting. Get the pair with the running shoe type sole. I wea...

Re: Do You Hunt When It's Windy?

YES! ESP when it's windy on continuous days. I find the midday to be a total lull though. This time if the year in SE MI is never bad to be on stand. Saw a lot of deer yest and tons of activity...get up there! NOTE: I hunted my 16' ladders instead of my 25' skyscrapers because you'd sway so much up ...

Re: FNG

Welcome, Some good tips above, I've done most of them to my Matrix. Shooting a heavier arrow helps of course. I use the x-factor limb wrap on my Matrix. Google it, they don't come off. They won't fit the Exo series limbs, but at the widest part of the matrix limb, they stay put. No glue, no need to ...

Re: String Life

I got about 500-600 through my stock serving on the M380.

Really good string makers on the forum, (only one great one though!), Try them all, I did. I'm partial to Boo's strings. Worth the wait and extra $.

Re: Here is some real boredum at work!

That said, who really cares how quiet their crossbow is? You aint getting a second shot anyway![/quote] I've had a lot of follow up shots on deer, got a buck-doe double on opening day this year. Took the doe, cocked the bow and just as the buck was trying to figure out why the doe wanted to sl...

Re: Sighting in the scope on the Matrix 380

IMO getting a 380 will not increase your effective killing range and 70y shots at deer or other 'jumpy' game is dicey business. The crossbow is too loud, the deer will be on its way before the arrow gets there, keep in mind your not shooting a compound anymore and keep shots reasonable, like within ...

Re: Matrix 380 & Hawke 3x32 SR

Go to the Hawke website. There is an app for arrow trajectories that will coincide with the aim points for your reticle. Since it is a fixed 3x scope you can't adjust for the bows speed. So your aim points will most likely NOT fall at 20,30,40 and so on... So find your speed with a chrony, download ...

Re: Plant food plot in fall? Or spring?

From someone that thought food plots would be simple enough, just throw it and grow it, right? Wrong. Very time consuming, labor, chemical and machinery intensive if you want to do it right $$$$$. I wasted a lot of good time over the years without anything in the way of trophy buck production, which...

Re: Tact Zone Scope Problems (2nd time)

I own Leupold scopes on my rifles and muzzleloaders. They are crisp, solid and good in low-light. They are also backed by their lifetime warranty. I don't think you could go wrong putting one on a crossbow. I'd put my hawke XB-30 next to them in terms of performance. I prefer the reticle and how you...

The accuracy change will be like switching from a 30-30 lever rifle to a bolt action sniper rifle.
X2!

Funny, I didn't even catch that Archer was using diablos.

Re: Accurace improved for my new Matrix 380

I don't think the rope cocker was causing your inaccuracies. Mine is super short, the string is already up to the arrow retainer before I draw back, and I can produce 3-arrow, 3 inch groups at 50y. It's pretty hard to cock these bows off-center, when properly using a cocking aid. So I actually tried...

Re: Cocking 380 Matrix Noisy

The ADF is simple, doesn't add much weight at all and is a safe guard for the inevitable dry fire...if you shoot enough, you will eventually have a dry fire. When you do, it may not be the limbs that are affected, it could be the string, scope or other components that take the abuse. I would never s...
