Re: fletching jigs and set up??? help.

IMHO, the Arizona EZ fletch is very fast, will do three fletches at a time, and very easy to use. :D Hank Thanks Hank. I actually have an old Arizona ez fletch but it's a straight jig. No offset.Do you know if ththere's a crossbolt version? You can buy different arms for the AZ EZ Fletch. Check out...

Here's my favorite knife and accompanying hatchet http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l529/6crossbows/FavoriteKnifeset.jpg No disrespect to anyone or their knife, but life is too short to use an ugly knife! Darryl, you still have that set. Bob from Northern Alberta, Canada. That fine feat...

Re: Broadheads for moose

My all round favorite is the Slick Trick 175 gr. crossbow magnum. Also like the NAP 125 gr. Hellrazor xbow. This is a cut on contact and went right through a moose. Many think a COC head is best for tough skinned game like moose or elk. The tip was deformed but that is cheap for a freezer full of me...

Re: Dissipator Bars...worth it?

One of the first things I did to my Phoenix was remove the DBs. They reduce noise/vibration some, but not enough to really be important to me. Same story with the strong stoppers. They change the twang to a thud, but I tried and then removed them, too. A flemish string and "catwhiskers" o...

Re: Broadhead Practice

My favorite is the 175 gr. SlickTrick magnum on Firebolts fletched with 2" Blazers using the AZ EZ fletch Bolt. Deadly accurate to 50 yd. I also use a COC BH, the 125 gr. NAP Hellrazor crossbow on same arrow and POI is fine for vertical and hits only 2" lower than SlickTrick at 50 yd. I cu...

Re: Slicktricks are ready

I think SlickTricks are the ultimate all round terminator. I use the 175 gr. magnum so don't have to change inserts. they are accurate, very tough and as you have already noted will drive through about anything. You get quite the blood trail too.

Re: Broadhead planning?

I had planing problems with the original Thunderheads when I started 8 yrs ago. The big heads would fly on a particular arrow but shoot to a differenht point of impact on the next. Found the answer after considerable experimentation: 1(Low profile (short), 4-bladed heads.2) High FOC, like 18-20%. 3...

Blue is good. Do not use Red unless you have no plans to loosen screws.

Re: Is this true?

Lots of varying comments here that point out why there is a large and healthy aftermarket industry around xbows. I got on this forum as soon as I got my Vortex and have saved myself a lot of time and money reading the freely given pointers from those with a lot of experience. In the end you have to ...

Re: Level bubble on 380

That level would also work nicely when setting your scope initially not? It will. Don't know how anyone else does it but it will likely be similar. Mount scope leaving screws loose enough that scope can be rotated. Shoulder xbow many times and set your eye relief. Set focus for your eye. While doin...

Re: Factory fff string life

I use the FFF string. The oldest are around 2 yr. and have been served 3 or 4 times. I have noticed they keep stretching. When that stops I would think the string is end of life or near it. The exocet, vortex, equinox, exomax have long draw length giving a sharper string angle off the claws. That do...

Re: The poor man's arrow puller!

I use that tubing too. Cut a piece about a foot long and wrap it around the arrow. You get a fatter grip surface and it works very well.

Re: Are you alone?

I live in North central Alberta, Canada. Nearest anything to do with Excalibur is 4.5 hr. South(if ya step on it a bit). There are a few up here with 100 lb. class xbow that they use for recreation and a bit of squirrel hunting. At the local gun club I belong to there are a number of very skilled ve...
