When building ones own bolts is it truly important to spine index them or is this mostly hype? If truly important how are you performing this task of spine indexing? Is there a jig or tool that is used?
Thanks,
Don

Re: Fletching Bolts Questions
Thanks for the feedback everybody. It was very helpful.
Normous, How do you clean your vanes after scuffing them?
Also, how much adhesive do people use? Should I use enough adhesive so that is spreads out a bit onto the shaft beyond the vane?
Thanks Again,
Don

Fletching Bolts Questions
Seeing as I am stuck home for the next period of time I am going to take advantage and build some bolts for the fall. I was wondering what people find to be the best adhesive for fletching and do you also use an adhesion promoter to go along with the adhesive? I will be fletching Blazer vanes onto c...

Hunting In The Rain
I was hunting in a light rain this morning and realized that I have never shot my crossbow in the rain so I was wondering how having wet bolts or water droplets on my rail could affect my shot? At a distance of 30/40 yards would wetness on the bolts and rail impact how the bolt would fly and potenti...

Re: Should I doctor Scrapes
The Active Scrape looks pretty interesting. I may give it a try.
Has anybody tried the Code Blue Grave Digger which is scented dirt you mix right into the scrape?

Longbow,
Just notice your comments above the image.
What king of doe pee have you found success with? Looks like the Code Blue and Tinks 69 are popular?

Longbow Joe,
That's a big scrape!
Did it start off as a mock scrape or natural made by a buck? Are you putting anting into it?

Should I doctor Scrapes
So I speed scouted my stands this weekend and there is a big scrape on a small beech tree 20 yards right in one of my shooting lanes and has a licking branch hanging down. I have some friends who are telling me I should be putting different doe P scents in the scrape to keep the buck coming back. I ...

Re: BOLTS CHANGING TRAJECTORY
Check your trigonometry. :eusa-popcorn: I triple checked the math and it is dead nuts. Even laid it out in SolidWorks. A right triangle with a height of 20 feet and a base that is 57 feet (19 yards) will have an angle of 19.335 degrees. With this angle and a deer that is 18.00 inches thick the exit...

BOLTS CHANGING TRAJECTORY
A friend shoots a Matrix 355. The bolts we built for it are 18.00 long zombie slayers with 110 grain brass inserts. Using blazer vanes and 100 grain Slick Tricks. He has shoot two deer with it and we have noticed something we don't understand. He is shooting from a tree stand 20 feet up and the deer...

Blackout Speed Trap
I was at Cabela's yesterday and saw the Blackout Speed Trap. I think this is a fairly new target as it is not on Cabela's web site yet. It's 18.0 x 18.0 in size and is rated for field points and broadheads up to 540 fps. Shooting a Bulldog 440 my bolts bury pretty deep into the Rinehart target so th...

Removing Decals From Bolts
I have read on the forum that you can remove the decals on bolts with acetone. Can this be accomplished with a simple wipe down or do you need to soak them for a period of time?
Thanks
