Thnx Dave, i just like doing a good job on them. I have seen gorgeous feathers turned to crap cause fella rush through the process and usually use the wrong tools grinding them.

All great tips so far. As far as a shotgun, u will not likely ever need it, if i was you i would just carry pepper spray. In most bear swamps, about the time u see one ( if he REALLY wants u) its hard to get a gun pointed in the right direction and get a shot off. Carry the pepper spray in a holster...

Diesel, i do not dry them out at all ( unless i have dyed them, then at least 48 hrs). As far as storage, i keep them in large watertight/airtight rubbermaid tote with 2/3 moth balls to keep the mites from eating all my feathers. I learned that the hard way 5/6 years ago when i lost ALL of my feathe...

Fuzzy, there is nothing lost in the ability of the feathers to repel water after they are dyed.
