I agree with Dutch.
A muzzle loader is considered unloaded as long as there is no cap or flint attached. There can be a powder charge and bullet down the spout but as long as there is no cap or flint it can't be fired. The crossbow is not loaded without an arrow on the deck.

That's a really nice buck.
I'd get those scales checked. He looks much bigger than 135 pounds to me.

Sorry Mike, October 23rd will not be remembered as a good hunting day for me. Let me explain: It's about 4:30 p.m. on October 23rd. I'd made arrangements for a friend to meet me at my stand location (ground blind) and we get ready to set me up for the evening hunt. My stand location is about 10 minu...

The sight on my Vixen is the same as yours, only mine is black (and a different make).

I like the messages inside the scope covers Scott. I use a red dot type of sight on my crossbow. It has four reticles from which to choose and adjusts for light conditions automatically. Mine is not the tube type but looks more like a mini TV screen in shape. It's similar to the Bushnell Holosight, ...

We'll be looking forward to the photos of you with "old gray face" Tuesday Mike.
Here's hoping there won't be any yote damage.

Elk from out west is hard to beat for me. I also like buffalo, moose, mountain goat, sheep and venison. I've never had antelope. I've had some bear meat that was good and some that was bad. It probably depends more on how soon and how well the meat was processed than the type of meat. I've had good ...

That's a brute R.J. He'll field dress over 200 pounds, I'd guess.
Great photos and story.
A big CONGRATULATIONS.

Ray, I'm very happy for you my friend. That's a trophy most of us would be very proud to take, well, except maybe for Mike P and you know him and his "righteous indignation." (I had to go back a lot of pages to find that term his friend Becker coined of he and Shrader -- Mike, I'm su...

I hunt with my Vixen. It's one of the very early ones with the carved tips and sprayed on cedar camo pattern. Bill T. set it up for me and we went out behind the warehouse (probably different from where they are now) and I tried it out on a styrofoam target. I remember it went off before I was ready...

I was so impressed with Pydpiper's description of his watch I bought one on eBay myself. Can't wait for it to get here from Texas so I can try it out.

Have a safe trip gogo. It's better to skewer those government goats with a crossbow arrow than to use the front of your car/truck as a "blunt."
