Re: Whats a good silentser ?
Any increased weight, in the form of string, arrow or thingies on limbs will reduce arrow speed by approx 1fps for each 3 grns of weight ....and will do very little for reducing bow noise. That's just the way it is with crossbows.

Re: Help a dummy understand an arrow/bolt please.
Used to build my own.....until I found Black Eagle Executioners. Not only a great arrow but the few pennies I save making my own don't offset the hassle and time involved.

Re: Stripped Out Screw Heads
Got a stripped screw remover (Craftsman) some time ago. One actually removes existing screw-slot with one side of the tool, then uses the other side to extract the screw. It's threads bit into the screw 'pocket', created with the previously mentioned tool, and out it comes. May be a good idea to loo...

Re: question on speed
Other than pull weight, the primary factor affecting speed, of any crossbow, is the weight of the arrow, string and objects on the limbs. Thus a Flemish string will be 'faster' than an endless loop it's being compared to only if it weighs less.

Re: nocks
Big difference between plastic nocks and polycarbonate. Don't do plastic any more after a said nock failed. Polycabonates, like those by Firenock are very strong and light. Been using some instead of aluminum nocks which can't be lit up. I practice with unlighted nocks, but have designated hunting a...

Re: Could someone explain all the string choices?
Agreed. I make my own both EL and Flems, but the stock Flemish is a very good buy and a good sting as well.

Re: How often do you replace the string ?
Every other yr or two re-serves which ever comes first. But then I make my own and enjoy doing so; can't make any more unless I rotate them out

Re: Online calculators
You also have to take the brace weight of your bow into consideration. A bit longer string increases speed, albeit not to that extent.

Re: Asking for help with off-season storage
Once tested two identical compound bows, one new and one that had been left strung over winter (there is an off season in northern MN ).
The latter bow was 12 fps slower using the same arrow! Do I unstring? You bet.

Re: Problem with Exomax...help please
Trigger mechanism screw is loose (check the forearm screw as well), scope mount is part of the trigger assembly that's why the scope don't move when cocked and the assembly is under pressure.

Re: Ibex bolts and knocks
Plastic nocks both flat and moons will work BUT, after having a bow blow up in my hands from a failed plastic nock, I use nothing but aluminum flat nocks in my Excal. Flat nocks have proven to be more accurate, for me, than moons.

Re: Making flemish string
I started by making and remaking strings using cheap material until my weaving technique was down pat. Boo was most helpful with information and even string material along the way. Personally I like the clipped end, makes it look like a silencer rather than a fuzzed out string; and they are easier t...

Re: stringing struggle
ehntr nailed it. Just do as he instructed. The trick definitely is to take as much slack out of stringer rope as possible AND use a cocking rope to pull the stringer to cocked position.
