Best adhesive for Brass Inserts and Carbon Bolts

I am going to be building my first set of bolts and am looking for advice regarding the best adhesive to use for brass inserts in carbon bolts? I was looking at the Bohning Insert Iron as one option and have also read that a lot of people use Gorilla Glue and Gorilla Super Glue (blue cap) with succe...

Re: Help Removing Plastic Nocks

I just soaked one in boiling water for a few minutes and then tried to pull the nock off with pliers. It would not budge and I ruined the nock. Must be glued on with a glue that is not effected by heat?

Help Removing Plastic Nocks

My FMJ bolts have red plastic nocks. I would like to replace them with Excalibur aluminum nocks with the tapped hole for easier bolt extraction. I am looking for suggestions on the best way to remove the existing nocks?

Fletching Alignment

How important is it to align the bolt fletching to the broadhead blades for consistent accuracy? Have any studies been published on this subject? I have heard it is important and have also heard it has no effect on accuracy and would like to know what everybody’s experiences are with this subject.

Re: G5 Striker Question

Hi All, Thanks for all the good advice. I had not thought about marking the slot and blade and then changing their position to see if the issue repeats but will do so next weekend. It very well can be that a slot is a few thousandths to long. I really want to use these heads but need to get this iss...

Re: G5 Striker Question

This is now going to drive me nuts until I figure it out. I am going to pick up another pack of both the 100 and 125 grain heads and try them again. I am also going to check the face of my front inserts in my bolts to make sure they are perfectly square. I’ll report back my findings.

Re: G5 Striker Question

Hi Turbo, At first I thought I may have picked up a bad batch so I purchased another three pack but got the same results. I screwed all three heads onto several FMJ and Firebolts with the same results. Two blades always lock up firmly with no movement and the third blade is loose and can be wiggled ...

G5 Striker Question

I have done some test shooting with the G5 Strikers, they group very well and the POI is very close to me field tips. I am shooting an Exocet 200 with FMJ bolts. The blades seem very sharp and I like the cut on contact tip. The only problem I am having is that one blade always seems loose. No matter...

Shoot Through Mesh

I was looking at ground blinds with shoot through mesh and was wondering how realistic it is to shoot through the mesh and maintain accuracy.
Does anybody have experience or advise with this stuff?

Re: Nikon Bolt XR Reviews

I just bought one this morning and mounted it on my Exocet 200. I mounted it with low leupold PRW rings. Can’t wait to get out and shoot it in a few weeks. I was not sure if I would like the reticle but it looks great.

Lock N Load Inserts and Fletching Orientation

Was checking out the Lock N Load brass inserts and they look very interesting. I like the idea of being able to easily align my fixed blade broadheads to the bolt fletching. Not sure how critical it is to do so but I don’t like variables and try to eliminate them whenever possible. Has anybody had a...

Re: NEW VS TRADITIONAL STOCK DESIGN

Hi kegbelly, I went to Cabela’s this morning and checked out the 380 again. You’re correct that with a rotation of the wrist the safety can be manipulated without having to take one’s hand off the stock. I was able to do this while still looking through the scope which surprised me so I would agree ...

Re: NEW VS TRADITIONAL STOCK DESIGN

Hi Paul, You’re up early in BC. Yes I have held both the 355 and 380 but have not had an opportunity to shoot them. They do balance very nice and are comfortable to shoulder. My only concern with the safety is that I need to move it to the off position before I am truly ready to pull the trigger and...
