Sorry about your close call! Great that you got your adrenalin going with that tree stand buck though! I spent some time scouting areas I don't usually get to and saw 3 white flags waving bye-bye. Sigh. Found some other fresh sign that looked good and moved my set-up. Had to quit early for a social ...

I'd like to meet someone like Vixchix who would rather have hunting supplies over diamonds! (plus you could always borrow them when need be!!!) LOL Well, there are a few of us out there, believe it or not! I was so glad that my husband was willing to share his love of the outdoors with me. Although...

I have an Ameristep Outhouse and an Eastman pop-up. The quality of the Ameristep is better, but the Eastman is just as comfortable and easy to set-up and carry. Works well enough for what I do - deer don't seem to be bothered by the blind. Having said that, I've been busted a few times this year whe...

1964 - I'm 42. Grew up in Alberta and my Dad took me fishing from about 8 yrs old, but I didn't get into hunting until my 20's when I dated a guy who hunted. Then I moved to Ontario and didn't have any opportunties to hunt until I met my husband 6 yrs ago. I knew our relationship was getting serious...

We decided a few years ago not to exchange gifts - spend less time in the malls and more time enjoying Christmas and contemplating the true meaning of the season. Having said that I told my hubby that he'd never have to buy me diamond anythings for any occasion, but a Double Bull blind with shoot-th...

They're the disposables. I can't think of the brands right now - I buy them at Canadian Tire or KW Surplus. I also have the reusable kind that burn the sliver sticks in them but I haven't used them in ages. The disposables are easy to fit into mitts and boots and the big stick-on ones last for about...

I use heat packs any time it gets below freezing. I've used the mitten ones, the foot/boot ones and the larger stick-on ones (I stick them in the middle of my back). No problems with any of them - LOVE 'EM!

Exactly right, Sumner. This is a public forum. Each hunter represents ALL hunters. We need to keep to the highest standards of hunting for the sake of all hunters and our sport. We should follow the spirit of the law, not just the letter of the law.

I hardly think that a tag on a deer is "degrading". On the other hand, staging the photos of deer with their tongues hanging out, blood on their snouts and wounds is disrespectful to the animal. Take the time to clean them up if you're fussy about "degrading" the animal. Hunters ...

Great bucks! CONGRATS! Sure those tags aren't all colour-coordinated with the deer and they look kinda dorky once they're on... but it's each hunter's responsibility to hunt ethically and to abide by the law. It's not a big deal to put them on, but it might be a big deal NOT to put them on. I'd rath...

We're hunting, not just killing. The sport of hunting requires the skill of getting close to game. I'm not interested in "how far", I'm interested in "how close". I will shoot 40+ at the range, but my set bowhunting limit is 30 yds.
