Re: 10 Day South African Safari -- Here I Come!

Get the 380, sell it when you get back. If you find out you can get a loaner in a pinch there, that might tip the scale to just take one, better be a hard case though that you pack it in.
Good luck!

Re: Diablo vs. All Others

Zombies, very hard to beat them. Nothing really wrong with the stock ones, but they are a bit pricey, and can be hard to find. Most folks also have a ton of 100, and 125 grain broad heads, and just like to have the brass inserts up front over the aluminum inserts in the stock arrows.

Re: How often do you replace the string ?

I would say 2 years, or first sign of string drying out. Like said, keep it waxed a bit, don't take much. Jury is out on the serving getting waxed, I wax mine, and rub it in deep, no trigger issues, no separation. I use Flemish strings, Endless Loop, keep an eye on the end serving, if it starts to s...

Congrats Drew, and the 380 would be a great choice to compliment the 355. Take a lot of pictures, and good luck!

Re: Making my own bolts

I bought one because I do a lot of custom for vertical, and crossbow needs. $110. Delivered new from EBay.

Re: Making my own bolts

That's a good list! If you order Black Eagle shafts from SSAS, or Wyverns, they will cut them, not sure of the cost. There are some innovative saws made by some members here that are worth looking at, if you need to cut to custom length. Kegbelly made one that would survive a group of kids stress te...

Re: Making my own bolts

If you order raw shafts from Black Eagle, they only come 20" or 22". They will not cut them shorter.
JP, you would love making them, and you have everyone here to help you out too.

Re: Making my own bolts

It is very gratifying to make your own, and not too hard either. Do you know what brand you want use, and do you have the tools to make them up? South Shore Archery, Wyverns, and i think Danny Miller will sell shafts cut to your needs. Bow Hunter's Superstore is a great place to get tools, but you c...

Re: It's hard to believe...

I'm sure DNR has their reason to keep the season opened that long. I'm not an advocate, but hunting is a blood sport. If the season was open here, I would be out there!

Re: Matrix 380 and NAP spitfire maxx

Anthony convinced me to buy some, but i had these also. These are the Cabelas Lazer Strike 2 Crossbow, made for them by NAP, next to the NAP Spitfire Maxx, they do use a band, or O-Ring. I have used their other ones for the vertical bow with very good results, and these go for $20. for 3 heads, deva...
