Re: luckeyest deer alive (updated) new ending
i personally, think that buckshot should be band. There are a lot of places where buckshot is not legal to hunt deer with around here. I've seen it used frequently down south (Arkansas) and have taken a couple deer with it when running dogs. I don't like buckshot just for the blood trail it leaves ...

Re: High at 50 yards?
Ellis, I've has a somewhat similar issue. When my Exomax was dead on at 20, it would be a bit high at longer ranges. I had my speed ring set at max (350). I think mine must have been clocking a little over 350. I checked everything and noticed my brace height was on or in front of the front notch. I...

Re: 40 yard shot question
It could have been two options. Option 1: You must have used the 40 yard pin. If you were 36 feet above the deer and the straight line distance to the deer was 41 yards, the actual horizontal distance would be 39.2 yards. If you used the 20 yard pin at that distance your arrow would be in the ground...

Re: Cocking your crossbow
I do it all the time with my ExoMax in my ladder and hang-on stands. I typically have my bow cocked with no arrow loaded before I leave the ground. I re-cock it while in the stand after any shot. I've tossed more than one arrow on quite a few occasions. I always cock it while standing. I've never ev...

I guess thieves are beginning to rut...
..because they are on the move a few places. After last season I had not planned to hunt in Virginia any longer. After finding out some clarifications about transport of carcases across state lines I got permission from the landowner to hunt there again this year. I went out last Sunday to a the sma...

Re: Exomax
I agree with ComfyBear for the most part. A heavier arrow has a number of advantages all of which he mentioned. But don't think that a 100 grain mechanical broadhead on the stock arrows on an Exomax is too light. I've killed a couple doe at 40 yards with this exact setup and had a pass through each ...

Re: How important is ARC?
Duckhunt . . .correct me if I'm wrong, but, just a ground sitter thinking here . . .your yardage estimate would be 13 yards off in your example . . .however, how far off would your POI be? With my shooting of the Exomax and the trajectory my set-up gets. . .I would hit an inch or so high, right? If...

Re: How important is ARC?
As many have said, it is nice to have but you can live without it at bow ranges. If you don't hunt over 15 feet, then its a not issue. As the vertical distance between you and the deer gets way up there, it does become an issue. I hunt in the mountains. Imagine being 25 feet up a tree that is on the...

I like the idea of having the links, but the execution leaves a little to be desired on Firefox 5.0. Here is what it looks like on an full HD monitor. http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k268/mayvillej/Hunting_2011/UntitledMedium.jpg The links on the left take up about 10% of the screen, which is fine...

Re: MECHANICAL BROADHEAD QUESTIONS
I've been using mechanicals in my Exomax from the start. I've shot spitfires, scorpions, rage 3-blade, hammerheads and sidewinders out of mine. All of them flew like field points. All of them were very deadly if you do your part and put them in the kill zone. The larger cut ones (hammerhead) were sc...

Re: Broken Arrows
The manufacturers must use a glue that makes it possible to remove inserts if you want to swap them out or tune 'em. problem is that you may lose some. I agree. I also have had this happen a few times when shooting my Exomax. That sudden stop is tough on lesser glues. I've pulled out a few arrows a...

Re: my first robin hood............
I always like the look of a clean aluminum robin hood. My daughter did it with a pair of my carbon arrows a few years ago with my Exomax. I make a point to not aim at the same spot twice. After a preseason tuning in session I let her shoot it. She went robin hood with the second arrow. She said she ...

Re: BH's. Whats the most expensive?
The Rage Titanium is probably the most common I've seen. The Titanium is used for the ferrule. I can see a need for it on the Rage. I quit shooting the 3-blade model due to the lack of durability. After one shot the blades would nick the aluminum ferrule and potentially prevent the blades from deplo...

Re: Stopping Crossbow arrows
I have a Block 4x4 and it stops arrows fine out of my Exomax with 100 grain tips. If you use brass inserts or really heavy tips you may want to invest in an arrow puller. With brass inserts it will bury them to just before the fletching so you don't have much grab on to without chancing a vane misha...
