Re: Swhacker Exit

Impressive exit wound! Were you really 48 feet up in your stand?

Opening day

Our Missouri archery opening day is September 15, exactly one month from today. It's time to get the deer stands ready, check the brace height on the bows and fire off a few shots to make sure the zero hasn't changed (it never has). It's also time to use up the remaining venison from last year. Hope...

Re: OT?/ Drought

Texas will get flooding rains before too long. That's how these things always end. Our farm was bone dry a week ago and now there have been flash flood warnings and heavy rains the last few days. I haven't gone up there because I'm sure it's too wet to mow. We're going out of town for a week startin...

Fieldtorq super tool

Has anyone out there tried the Fieldtorq super tool? It's a type of knife designed for easy and clean field dressing of big game. It's not cheap (around $100), and it doesn't do anything I can't already do with my extra large Swiss army knife that has a small saw. It still appears to be a well desig...

Re: OT?/ Drought

I think our farm got a good rain yesterday also (based on radar). I'll go up in a couple of days and check. I haven't mowed up there since mid June. Maybe I'll need to this week. Strangely, I've had to mow about once a week at my home in the St. Louis suburbs, about 90 miles south of my farm. A smal...

OT?/ Drought

So far in July, we have only had about 1/2" of rain at my northeast MO farm. This after below normal rainfall in April, May and June. Rain is in the forecast frequently, but it always dries up or goes around us. Creeks have stopped flowing, ponds are shrinking and the ground is as hard as concr...

Re: CBSA Enforcing Folding Knife Ban

I used to carry the smallest Swiss army knife with me at all times (tiny knife blade, file with screwdriver tip scissors, toothpick and tweezers). it came in handy on numerous occasions but would not make much of a weapon. After losing three of them to metal detectors (one in my toiletries kit in a ...

Thank you! As I said on Canada Day, you guys are the greatest neighbors that any country on earth has! When I'm in Canada it doesn't feel like foreign country.

I hope everybody has a chance to eat some barbecue and watch some fireworks today. Also, I hope everybody's corn is at least knee high!

Congratulations on getting the tag! I can't wait to read the story of your hunt. This forum is in the summer doldrums now and some real life hunting reports would be welcome.

Good luck!

Re: Twinstrike illegal in New Hampshire

I'm not against technology but the charm of "primitive" weapons disappears with technological advancements. Muzzleloader season should just become single shot rifle season because today's muzzleloaders have become another type of modern rifle. The old recurves shooting cedar arrows have be...

Re: Memorial Day

A few years ago, I visited one of the WW2 cemeteries in France. Row after row of white stones bearing a name and a star of David or a cross, perfectly maintained and manicured by the French people. I can't describe the impression it makes but if you've been there, you know what I mean.

Re: OT: 40 Yeasr Now - Where'd they go??

Congratulations! If you find the right person, it's automatic to stay together. In a few weeks my wife and I will celebrate our 43rd. I can't believe how quickly those years have passed.
