How long can a fellow do this?
I just returned from setting a new stand. The bottom of the stand is at 22.' On the way back to the house it struck me. How many guys still do this at this age and how much longer can I expect to be able to do it? My birthday is yet this month and I turn 68. btw, because it is so darned warm this af...

Re: "Deer Thugs" Questions
Hey Spitfire, worse yet is going back in the morning to find the deer has been eaten by coyotes or wolves.

Re: 2010 Peak Rut Predictions by Charles J. Alsheimer
With all due respect to Charles, I've never found his predictions to be all that accurate. Therefore I'll still go on believing the rut will start basically the same time every year; that is, within a few days from year to year. In our area that means November 15 for the peak, give or take a few day...

Re: "Deer Thugs" Questions
I grew up long before TV hunting shows were even thought of. Well, I also grew up when many homes did not even own a TV. Now in our home we watch very, very little. I don't think our television has been on more than 10 hours per year for the last 20 or 30 years. That being said, no, I have not watch...

Re: Trail cams; side by side?
The point I was trying to make is that we too thought the same as many others but when we placed the trail cams side by side taking the pictures a second apart it showed that what appeared to be a relaxed deer showed to be a spooked deer when the second cam took the shot. Without two cameras like th...

Re: Trail cams; side by side?
I agree. I also do not place the camera where I am or will be hunting. That is not the place for a trail cam.

Re: Trail cams; side by side?
I can certainly agree they see the IR glow but so far I have yet to see one run away. A few have backed out slowly but did not seem unduly alarmed. One instance really changed my mine. A few years ago I had a nice buck coming in on opening morning. When he got close to the trail cam he suddenly look...

Re: Trail cams; side by side?
The Cuddeback is not IR. It is the Cuddeback Capture Flash. I respectfully disagree with you on the IR. While I have seen some back off from the IR there have been very few. In addition, on the bigger bucks I get multiple pictures of them but when using the flash I get one shot usually. They simply ...

Re: dry fire
Wabi, I foolishly dry fired my bow a year ago and the limb tip flew off to never be found again. After calling Excalibur, my new limbs came in 2 days and I was ready. Here I thought I'd have to miss opening day as this happened really close to that date. Man, customer service can be fast!

Trail cams; side by side?
Just wondering if anyone has tried any experiments like my neighbor just did. He had a Cuddeback flash camera and recently bought a cheap IR camera for $100 (Wild Game I think or something like that). He had thought the Cuddeback might not be getting all the pictures and wanted to find out. What he ...

I still use the 5" but only because I had a good inventory. When they are all used I'll probably try the blazers.

Noon and the temperature is still in the 50's! Nice! Think I'll hang a stand this afternoon.

Re: Wildgame Innovations Trail Cam?
I agree with Fred bear. my day pictures are great but the night pictures look like your blinding the deer with a spotlight. This is my first camera and it has 3 setting types on it. Would someone help me with this settings? I mean I know to set it to Picture instead of video but under the DELAY opt...
