Re: CWD
Biologist with Texas Parks and Wildlife are working with Deer Farmers here in Texas to develop a deer herd that is immune to CWD. Seems most of the problem occurs with "Farmed" Deer herds. https://landassociation.org/chronic-wasting-disease-in-texas-latest-updates/ Pretty informative arti...

CWD
Here's an excellent video about CWD presented by a biologist who specializes in deer. WARNING: several deer are shot in this video. I know we all hate to watch things like that.

Re: Snow storm!
It's 68 F. and comfortable where I am right now. Unfortunately, it's 9F. and windy outside. Our season ends Monday, but up where hunt it's supposed to be -11F. tonight and -8F. tomorrow night with a high of 3F. both days. Our deer are fat from eating crops for months and will probably lay low and ou...

Re: Got some snow here!
Our season is open until January,15. I can't get back up to the farm until next weekend. The weather forecast is for about 10 days of lows in the single digits and highs in the teens with strong winds. My freezer is pretty full from rifle season so I may not try a late season hunt. I have never even...

Re: OT - Costa Rica Fishing Trip
I should let Sandman answer, but I think they are Wahoos, a better eating fish than baracudas. Grouse you are spot on! They are indeed Wahoo's. I just couldn't place them. I knew they looked familiar but couldn't come up with a name!! Thanks for ending the mystery!! Our captain ...

Heart or back, I'm glad it went well and you're back on line. All surgery carries some risk, and I'm glad you are safely past it.

So sorry to hear about your loss. You're in my thoughts and I wish you well.
On far less important note, I hope you get straightened out with posting on this forum. I miss reading your posts and look forward to seeing them again.

Re: Last minute doe
Way to hang in there and come through at the last minute! I'll repeat: "every deer is a trophy". I too switched to Xacts from fixed blades a few years ago and I am pleased with them. I use the heavier than Firebolts Black Eagle Zombies and Executioners and have no trouble getting pass thro...

Re: OT: CBC Anti Hunting Article
I didn't invent the food chain but I'm happy to be at the top of it. Animals don't die of old age if we leave them alone. They die of starvation, disease or from attacks from other predators. The deer that became the meat in my freezer were born free and lived their entire lives free. They converted...

Re: Going out hunting this afternoon.
It's been warm here too. My freezer is pretty full from the 2 deer I killed during rifle season, but I still have 3 archery tags (one any deer and two antlerless) tags left. I have a buddy who has gotten skunked so far this year and I have a son who loves venison and has freezer space (I've already ...
