Sorry for your loss

Huntz, it absolutely is the pits when you lose your friend, I've done it three times now (my picture is Tori, my english springer that went to a better place last year), however, the hole eventually goes away and all the great memories remain. As other people have stated, you will eventually get ano...

How many of us haven't done that in the past

Over the course of our shooting/hunting careers, who here hasn't felt the cold steel ring of that dreaded scope impact the nose or brow. After all these years I still laugh at myself for drawing blood.

That is great to hear

Great story and although I don't post often, there are a ton of great people here and great advice. I too am fairly new to my Excalibur, I bought a Vortex about 1-1/2 years ago, however, I immediately put a scope on it. Because of that, I still have the iron sites for the bow (I would just have to f...

Don't know if it still true

I used to visit Dundee quick often, awesome place. In fact at one time, they said that this location was the No.1 tourist draw in the State of Michigan.

Sometimes accidents happen

The reason I say this...I have a cousin who shot someone during shotgun season in NY about 20 years ago. Basically the situation was as follows: he was hunting off of a fence line and a buck was about 70 yards away, walking along a hedgerow. My cousin shot (and missed) and unknown to him, on the oth...

Good luck Grizz. I lived in southwestern Indiana for 6 years and if deer hunting was my only concern, I would still be there. First deer taken down there was a 145 lb. field dressed doe, followed by a 8 pointer that I look at everyday when I'm in my home office. Monster deer are there for the taking...

Don't forget your feet

After walking all that way you feet will sweat as well. I always take an additional pair of socks (and a plastic seal bag) to change out at the stand. Nothing will make you feel colder than your feet if the temp stays down and they are damp (even with good wicking socks).

Thx Saxman, that chart pretty much mapped out the buck I saw two days ago. I think I found a new tool thanks to this site.

My mother-in-law showed me. Basically she packs the meat in the jar as tight as possible, a little salt, then about a half dollar piece of pork fat. The outcome is delicious. It reminds me of the stew beef you find in a can of Dinty Moore Beef Stew.

Late to the party but

I agree, it is sad that we live in a world where somebody's word means very little to them.

Put me on the list if you need to get rid off something that would fit on my 07 Vortex. I would be glad to help take those off your hands.
