Re: Mountain mikes snow camo mount
I tried the Mtn Mikes but found that the Iron Buck mounts work just as well for a lot less $$$.

Re: First light
I agree with the majority here about evening hunts. I lost a deer to coyotes this year that I shot around sundown. It was too dark to track her in the dense woods where she ran and when I easily found her the next morning, she was ripped up by coyotes. When a deer is hit in the morning you have all...

Re: Hooks up or down
I have always done hooks down and had one hook break on me over the years. I just grabbed another rope cocker, checked my limbs out and went back to shooting. It is just easier IMO to hook them on hooks down.

Re: Hanging Stand and Wind
Lock up a climber out there, and get there early! Good luck Bill. That is my plan. I'll be hunting from dark to dark so really not worried about leaving the stand. I will be up in the tree at least an hour before sunrise. I'll use the Windfinder Map to check the wind's direction for the days I plan...

Re: Cool Wind Map
Not very accurate at all in the ridges where I hunt. My last 2 hunts both showed a West wind all day but the winds were actually dead out of the South.
They did turn to the West in mid afternoon for a while. I have been using it a long time but have learned not to trust it.

Remember, they always look bigger from the back! Just to possibly help you so you always make the right decision, the Bucks usually have antlers, and danglers!  That is exactly what got this buck killed. Re: One Legged Redneck - Paying the ferry man
I hate to say this but your post made me laugh. Reminds me of my then 72 year old brother taking a couple of hits off a joint at a Christmas party 3 years ago. He had tried it back in the late 70s and had no idea that pot had become so potent over the years. He thought he was losing his mind and was...
