Re: deer decoys anyone use them? are they any good?

I will sometimes use a 2D bedded deer decoy. It has worked for me. Because the two deer are bedded non-movement appears not to be an issue. Even though most deer have not come right up to the decoy it catches their attention and a lot of their focus. I give a lot of credit for my first CB kill last ...

Re: new to forum

Welcome aboard!

Pretty sure I was told that the brass inserts for the GT shafts are 110 grains. From my vertical archery experience I'm guessing about 25 grains for the aluminum knock insert and maybe something like 35 grains for an aluminum point end insert. Hope this helps.

Re: jerk's at the range!

With that guys logic I suppose the guy shooting a glass laminated recurve or longbow should be upset with the compound archer shooting up his bales. Guy or gal shooting primitive might as well be upset with with the trad shooter. Oh, you could of course vent on the CBer using a compound CB. :) Take ...

Re: Arrows & BH's

Hi, Just so I understand... Are you saying that all your broadheads regardless of type/brand hit within 1" of each other out to 40 yards or that for a given a broadhead type you get the 1" group? Personally I've found the latter to be true but not the former at least not with my 100 grain ...

Re: Are ya scared

It is not just the critters you mention that can do you harm. Every few years or so you'll read about a hunter getting hurt and in one case I can remember killed by a buck. On public land perhaps much more than private land you might also run into trouble with a biped. Though from CT I mostly hunt w...

Way to go!

Did you call it in or were you hunting deer at the time and it just showed up?

Re: Thoughts on varizone

I hear what you're saying about the chevrons. You must be certain to sight in and then use just the very tip of the chevrons for tack driving. That being said, though I use the scope for hunting, IMHO the peep set to maybe 25 yards would have you good to go on whitetail out to 30 yards. Someone in a...

Re: Hunting Blinds

Pick any style of hunting or hunting gear and you're going to have pros and cons. I don't have one but there are a number of popup blinds available that allow a 360 view. If I'm not mistaken these blinds are generally more expansive and larger than most other blinds. Have you given any of the open t...

Re: Lattice...

OK, I'm about to get myself in big trouble... Why brush it in? Yep, it looks nice to me but do the game really care? It looks like a permanent blind and maybe even an elevated one, won't the game just get used to it even if it were painted blaze orange? Thanks My emphasis is around the shooting win...

Re: Blind Issues

Can't claim this is the best solution but here is how I sat in the same blind just last week. Being right handed I sat kinda in the left rear corner with forward window all the way down and side windows almost all the way up at the rear and nearly all the way down at the front. Door open just a bit ...

Re: Sad day for PA Hunter...

Don't know about State Land but it has been legal for a few years now to carry a firearm while bow hunting in PA. My brothers jointly own hunting land in Fulton County and just about all friends and family that bow hunt hunt the property also carry a side arm.

Re: 2 string or not 2 string that is the question...

Hi Joe, Welcome aboard! Never even questioned it being a problem to leave the bow strung. Matter of fact I've only worried myself about seeing that my self bows be unstrung when not being shot for even short periods of times. All my other bows laminated fiber glassed trad bows and the two compounds ...

Re: Arrow Weight

The brass inserts you mention would be a whole lot cheaper than getting a heavier poundage bow. But, there'd of course be benefits to getting a new CB. "Honey, I can't get these arrows to shoot. I'm gonna have to get a new bow." "Billy, you've had that bow... what, over 14 months now?...
