I also had a Spitfire apparently open up, the rest get banded now thanks to reading about it on here.
Buck was standing BS @ app. 20yds, I'm on ground, found the arrow sticking in a tree app. 60yds away and about 7' up off the ground!
I'll take my chances with the bands!

Re: Shot Placement On A Bear
I'm not sure' but I think I now have this figured out! You aim a little further back than just behind the front leg, but a little further front than the middle of the middle! You asked the initial question nchunterkw, I ran into the exact thing you described in your post above when I started looking...

Re: Shot Placement On A Bear
Or I could shoot where they did, right behind the shoulder, and lose a 5th one! I'm not arguing, I really don't know, but after 3 of my buddies lost 4 bear combined, I'm open to suggestions also as for where to aim, I don't like crippling animals, that's why I started trying to look up information j...

Re: Help - Eye relief issue
Extension rings. I don't know if they will move your scope back far enough for you, but I've had the same problem with rifle scopes and they pretty well solved the issue. Weaver makes them as well as other manufacturers, most gun shops should be able to help you out. I think these are the same as &q...

Re: Shot Placement On A Bear
Interesting post about where to aim on a bear. One buddy lost a bear in Maine, another buddy lost a bear in Maine, and my young fishing buddy lost 2 bear in PA in just the last few years. I started wondering why these guys were not getting the bear they shot basically in the same location as they wo...

Re: Venting and asking for input
You aren't alone! My fishing buddy is a taxidermist and right now he has 11 mounts sitting there that he did for people who never came back to pick them up or much less pay for them, he also doesn't take any money upfront! I think I would require 1/2 down and payment in full within 30 days of notifi...

Re: ??? Spitfire Shooters ???
I missed a standing buck with my 380, that was 20yds in front of me while on the ground, with a Spitfire ! I did find the arrow 7' up in a tree 60yds from where I was sitting! Apparently the blades opened up prematurely, kicked up off the stirrup, and away it went. I didn't know about banding them a...

Re: What do you guys climb with
Condition yourselves boys. Put about 40# of rocks in an old backpack, set the treadmill at 20% grade, and hoof it hard for a mile or so. Come on guys!  Now I don't know if it is true or not  , but when I ran into the Benoit's up in Maine one of their crew told me they drag 250lb of ...

Re: about to use matrix 380 first time- three quick question
After reading about maintaining proper brace height MANY times on here, I keep a constant eye on it and make sure it is at least 1/4" off the bumpers. I had to adjust it more than once with the factory string to keep it there due to the string stretching on my 380. As stated, get a stringing ai...

Re: spoiled meat
Interesting posts about hanging or not hanging deer meat. Years ago when it was much colder during rifle season, it was pretty common here in Pa to hang deer either outside or at an ice house. As stated in my other post, we hung deer in Maine for 3, 4, 5, 6 days plus the 13-14hr. trip home with the ...

Re: spoiled meat
I have had that happen a time or two chances are it was not cleaned well enough of blood clots and any material that may be on the meat . I rinse the whole deer inside and out for five minutes or so with a hose with good clean water. Making sure I get all the material off . Another place that can s...

Re: Crisis At The Canadian Border
Excellent post by L.E.! If you watched the recent two speeches by President Obama and Hillery, they both mentioned about obeying the law of the land. What I don't understand is how for many years our gov. has not enforced immigration laws that are in place plus other federal laws, hollow words! Peop...

Re: Slug Gun Question
I have a browning 12 ga. A-bolt slug gun that is extremely accurate at 100 yds. with lightfield slugs. The one I have has the 5" screw in rifled choke tube, not the fully rifled barrel. To me, that gun is pretty well the same as carrying a bolt action rifle as for weight, feel, etc. My buddy ha...

Re: On the way to hunt Maine. Grunt call suggestions?
I'm sure that there are grunt tubes, and then there are grunt tubes! I was using a Knight&Hale Magnum when I hunted in Maine, and it's what I use here in Pa. When one came in behind me up in Maine and grunted, I thought, gee that sounded exactly like my grunt tube. They can be extended and cuppe...
