I found if you wrap your thumb with an ace bandage and leave it sticking up at the bottom of the rail, it really keeps things toned down.

I get the same reaction with rifle shots, half the time the other animal will come over and sniff the dead one or just hang out for a while and skip off. Heck, I've actually recocked and shot a second animal at 25 ...

Man when it comes to crossbows, I am sold on the Matrix Grizzly through 330, regular string, and Nikon scope. It goes slam through everything and is 1" accurate at sixty yards. I don't use any noise reduction or pads.

I like to keep things just plain simple.
