Re: why that broadhead
Wonder what KE is pushin those NAP 170gr 3" cut BH's ? I was pushin almost 70KE wid a 400gr total usin swhacker 2" barely gotstid a pass-through on oa Doe i killed My opinion is that momentum and not KE will affect penetration more. I think a heavier arrow like maybe 450 or 500 would have...

Re: Broadhead vs Field Point POI - Again
Bullseye You are right in your assessment of BC. At least that is how I understand it. And while BC affects trajectory due to drag as you point out, it is not the only thing. FOC does as well. As I understand it a higher FOC results in more trajectory meaning more drop at distance. Two arrows with t...

Re: why that broadhead
Nice article. I have some recovery data but I'm not sure how good it is. It shows a recovery rate of over 96%, so this does not line up with rifle data or the data from the article. The data I have will be useful for recovery distance. My initial thought on the article as to why mechs have a very sl...

Re: why that broadhead
I've been busy as heck as my company got sold, but I am crunching through over 500 data points of deer kill data looking at kind of BH, and where the deer was hit etc, versus how far it travelled after the shot. I hope to somehow get it out to people when it's done but basically it will show that BH...

Re: Broadhead vs Field Point POI - Again
As I said, drag was my first thought too. But as a test engineer I'd like to run an experiment to kind of prove that. My thought is to have 2 points that weigh the same, with pretty similar ballistic coefficients, but with different lengths. That should change only the FOC ever so slightly. I'd like...

Re: Parker crossbows - unbelievable
My thoughts exactly. I had a Horton come apart on me while I was cocking it on the ground during target practice and that was exciting enough.

Parker crossbows - unbelievable
Went to the Dixie deer classic yesterday here in Raleigh. There was a booth by Parker so I walked up and checked them out and played dumb with the sales guy. I asked him what he thought about Excaliburs and at what arrow weight the rated speeds were calculated for Parker. He told me Excaliburs were ...

Re: very important chrony lesson!!!
Wow that really stinks. Glad you are OK. FWIW Chrony says in the instructions on the F1 to try to have the projectile pass through a window about 4" to 6" above the sensors. I actually assembled mine and then measured up from the sensor about 4" and translated that to the rods and mar...

Re: triggertech
I have no problem with the 2 stage and think it is much safer for hunting. The trigger only moves about 1/8" before it hits the wall so to me it's no big deal. 2.5 lbs is not much. You could easily trip it (with a glove on or not) when you didn't mean to. Also, I've been hunting plenty of times...

Re: Hawke XB30 questions
I put an XB-1 on my Vortex last year. (same as XB-30 but 1" tube/rings) I like it and have had no issues. As a nerd, I also like the Hawke app you can download for your phone. It helps with setting up the multiple crosshairs.

Re: Increased range with 405?
I think these ranges would be more correctly called "possible maximum theoretic range in a vacuum".    Now that made me laugh. But what I was trying to go after was this.... If you have a certain bow and have been hunting with it for some time and know...
