Re: Broken vs cracked limbs
Vixen, when did that break on you? During cocking, or after release?

Re: New awesome toy!
https://i.postimg.cc/rmmr1mDM/P-40-Pionerr.jpg I'm familiar with its cousin the Poulan 4200. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMXnlx-nC94 Was going to get my wife a DeWalt 12" electric chainsaw (so I could use it) but then realized what a dumb idea that would have been - letting her loose on th...

Broken vs cracked limbs
Never had it happen with my Vortex (and never will  ), and have been told it won't happen with Matrix 355 and "probably not" with Matrix 380. But exactly when do limbs break? I've read numerous threads about limbs needing replacement, but many were delaminating and not necessarily...

Re: Any CAN-US Border News Re: Hunting?
Another year of no fishing and moose hunting for Yankees? Many outfitters barely survived one year lost revenue.
Two years? Most will go under.
And a vaccine mandate? Nuts!

Re: Kinda surprised at Excalibur
Prolly why SAE doesn't have torque charts for aluminum. All aluminum threads should be roll formed (with rare exception for forgings); cut threads are 20% weaker and do not accomplish the requisite clampload desired for most assemblies and joints.

Re: Kinda surprised at Excalibur
I had a hard time believing it but the risers are an extrusion prior to some machining. Extruding produces very good material strength properties, cheaper than forging or exotic alloys +HT, so makes sense. BTW, my daughter holds a PHD in Industry Engineering. From the day she could talk, we figured...

Re: Kinda surprised at Excalibur
Ok, you are an engineer. Why is it that there are no SAE torque specs for aluminum. I can mention one and I'm sure there's many, there are too many variables. The riser, mainframe and trigger unit are all different alloys. My question to you is not rhetorical. I've often wondered. In my world, thre...

Re: Kinda surprised at Excalibur
You think you had issues about the lack of torque specs? Try being an auto mechanic who rebuilds transmissions, differentials, engines and repairs circuit boards! Not only that be we are going from steel into aluminum! Add to that there are atleast 3 differrnt types of aluminum that have threads in...

Kinda surprised at Excalibur
Excalibur engineers fantastic products, but they don't provide specifications for assembly. Finally got my Matrix 355 in mail yesterday. Limb detached from riser, so need to secure the two 5/16" cap screws. All of the instruction manual's I've pulled up online only state "Tighten screws&qu...

Water RESISTANT. (their emphasis, not mine)
Better have a backup bow with waterPROOF scope for real hunting situations.

Re: Ex Shox
Death by Bunjie video indicated Ex Shox makes it much more difficult to remove/adjust string using the Excalibur stringer tool. Haven't installed mine yet so cannot verify that claim, but it's enough for me to pause and reconsider whether to bother, especially since Ex Shox has two effects: 1) slows...

Re: Lead fragments in venison
A recent study in Minnesota found that there was an alarming amount of lead fragments in deer meat donated to feed the hungry in that state. As I'm sure all of you know, lead is toxic. Started upland hunting in 1993 and occasionally a pellet would be missed while dressing out birds and make its way...

Congrats team monstermash! Ridden with jealousy. Justin-baby closed all border traffic thereby cancelling our group's fall 2020 moose hunt in Wawa.
BTW - nice photo backdrop. Rib cage looks like it could be repurposed as a swing.
