Re: Nastsy Ticks
Just learned of a new trick to get them loose if they get dug in. Put a drop of dish soap on them and they will back out willingly as they cannot breath. I am of the understanding that they will only regurgitate (infecting you with whatever they carry) if agitated while being dislodged. I have used ...

Re: 2012 peak Rut Prediction
For the Northern prediction, did you mean to write Nov. for the tending phase, instead of October? The tending in October does not jibe with the other phases and it would be a month off as well.

Re: Boots
I just retired a pair of LaCrosse knee high rubber boots that lasted 10 years and endured the most God-aweful abuse a boot could be put through. I wore them all summer long while scouting and setting stands and i am in the woods literally every week-end. After ten years they finally developed a coup...

Re: Free string! Angel Majesty Endless Loop String Test
Don, Thank you for allowing me to participate in your studies. To date I am just shy of 200 shots on the string. I noticed as soon as I opened the package the string seemed much lighter. It was evening so I had none of my gear out and just wanted to get the string on the crossbow and get it stretche...

Re: wanted: the truth about 2" vanes
You can't beat Blazers. No gimmicks, just great flight from the arrows they get glued too. Bohning makes a special jig called the Tower especially for the Blazer. It has a very aggressive offset for the shorter vane. AZ EZ Fletcher also has one (as was stated) with a very aggressive helix. To get th...

Try to be sure you shoot flat nocks though, regardless of your arrow length.

Re: Chronograph
You can get a real Chrony so cheap now that it seems the best way to go. Sportsman's Guide, Cabelas, and Bass Pro sell varoius models for well under a 100 bucks. And unless you own a pro shop and use these things 20 times a day, they will work just fine. JMO.

Re: All Things Equal
I spend a lot of time making and testing different arrow, vane, and broadhead combinations. Its a general rule of thumb that heavier arrows do help to quiet the crossbow. Once your crossbow is sighted in, switching strings, changing brace height, and using different weight arrows will all change you...

Vix,
That will surely become a family heirloom. Use it as much as you can so it has many stories inside it when you hand it to your son one day, and he will do the same.

Re: long distance practice
There are a 100 theorys on barrel cleaning if you ask a 100 shooters. LOL. I'm a trigger and glass man. You can take an average weapon of any type, (i.e. crossbow, or rifle), put a good trigger and scope on it and make it extraordinary in a lot of instances and absolutely better than it was in all i...

Re: Excalibur and Accesories
I have the Tac-Pac and find the handle is too far forward for a tight-tucked control. I'm too shakey when my hold-arm is extended that far out. I will probably take it off and sell it to a buddy. I would like to see one that could mount up on the forearm area..
