Re: Converting a Mechanical for Practice
This works fairly well: roughen the sides of the blades slightly for better adherence, put JB Weld in the blade grooves, close the blades and clean off the flash, after its hard, sharpen the forward facing exposed blades so there’ll be less stress on them when hitting the target. NAP needs to make a...

Mike,
Good luck. Being about 60 miles SE of you, it’s been between 97-99 F with very high humidity for the past two weeks.

Re: BD 330 vs micros??
I believe the riser changes in all the models as well as the new limb design will greatly reduce limb fracture frequency.

Re: might get back to hunting this year
I’m glad things are working out. Your son is going through a character building experience. Read the just released book, CHAOS. You’ll get additional insight into US marines. You may be a marine yourself, though. The book is excellent. When I was in the USAF, I got to work with a few marine aviators...

Re: BD 330 vs micros??
I have a BD400 and have shot Micros a fair amount. The BD330 is very gentle, quiet, and should be superbly accurate. The Micro, as discussed on the rather interesting thread, is probably a little shorter range xbow. The BD330 should be easy for most to rope cock, but not the Micro. Using the Charger...

Re: Max range would you say is far enough?
Brandon, I agree also. Very nicely written. I have a non-hunting physician, actually my best friend. He is not against hunting; rather, he is supportive. Every time I kill a deer, bear, whatever, he says, “One of the lucky ones.”. What he’s referencing is that in the wild, virtually all animals die ...

Re: Max range would you say is far enough?
My final thought concerning long range accuracy. I think we all know that speed flattens trajectory and that speed is usually incorporated into longer range shooting discussions. However, getting the flatter trajectory can increase group size. Rarely are the lightest arrows the most accurate. With a...

Re: Max range would you say is far enough?
I apologize for not answering the question. I believe a deer with its head already down, if it’s tail is down and totally relaxed, is in a relaxed mode. Those matriarch does are so alert! And can be mean, like the dominate hummingbird at a feeder. Arrow noise - I stand behind a tree, building, whate...

Re: Max range would you say is far enough?
This is a test and comments from a couple of years back with one of my M405s. 20" ST 418.6g M405 1yd 369'/sec . 127ft-lbs. 20yd 360'/sec 120. 40yd 354'/sec 117. 60yd 337'/sec 106. 80yd 325'/sec 98. 100yd 311'/sec 90. So from 20 yards to 100 yards only 58'/sec (16%) was lost while only 30ft-lbs ...

Re: Max range would you say is far enough?
I’ve been reluctant to respond to this or any other thread concerning maximum “ethical” range. There are so many convictions out there that are formed from incorrect suppositions such as not enough energy remaining at such and such range, or the deer could die from old age and be lying on the ground...

The aluminum alloy. The 78 was a little tougher. Size/fit of components will be the same.
