Re: Broadheads
Lots of guys on here, me included, find that higher FOC gives you better accuracy. So my recommendation is to go heavier than 100 if you don't want to change out inserts. 150 gr Slick Tricks are great as are 150 gr Magnus Stinger 2 blades. If you can get FOC up to ~20% with an insert I really like t...

Sounds fishy to me. The group I belong to, Backyard Bow Pro had it's site hacked by an anti group a few months ago.wheelie wrote:CN down now as well. BowZone down last two weeks. AT down. Who is next?

Re: Finding Cock vane in Dark
If I have an arrow that shoots to a different poi than the rest of my arrows I try rotating which vane I put in the slot, alot of the time I can get it to group with the others by doing this . The one that ends up in the slot is what Im calling my cock vane . Im basicaly just getting the spine of a...

Shoulda Known Better...
Had to go to work yesterday morning so I couldn't get out until the afternoon. It was rainy and I am shooting feathers....and in the county I was hunting it was the 1st day of gun season...and I was going to pretty much be stalking a river bottom. So I decided to take my son's 20 GA slug gun with Li...

Re: Finding Cock vane in Dark
I color the arrow shaft from the vane back with a Silver Sharpie Marker. There is usually enough light to see it, and if there isn't you can't shoot anyway
They make Sharpies in Silver and GOld metallic. Works. great.

Re: Need assistance for first crossbow
I owned 2 Horton Legend compound crossbows and took many deer with them. Had to replace limbs on both, and pay to have my string - and cable changed every time. One of them came apart in my hands as I tried to cock it when one of the cam pins bent. I was lucky and did not get hurt. After that I boug...

Re: When are you happy?
As I have posted many times - I do not chase speed. I like a heavier arrow for less vibration and all the advantages I believe it gives me while hunting. That being said, I shoot Flemish strings and have my 525gr arrows in the 295fps range

Re: Spin drift?
I recently just put on an XB1 and it took my a lot longer than usual to get thigs settled down and accurate. Mine is on a Vortex and I am shooting some heavier arrows. Download the Hawke app and go through the exercise to determine ballistic coefficient for the arrow. Then use that and your arrow ve...

I like to call that "CDO" - because that way it's in alphabetical order.Kegbelly wrote: (but being a little OCD myself I know where you're coming from )

Re: Spin drift?
I was recently reading a paper on arrow aerodynamics (yes, really) and one thing they looked at was arrow rotation. In the study, it took and arrow about 8 meters to come up to "full rotational speed", in which an arrow rotated 1 time for every ~~2 meters it traveled. Given that, an arrow ...

Re: Double banding a Rage head?
I had some original 2 bladesa few years back. Didn't think I had to band them and had one open upon the shot out of my Vortex. Pydpiper, if you use them make sure to put on a dental elastic or something. On the BH.... They have improved them with the new collar. Just not for me anymore.

Re: Shooting Distance
Sorry if this semed to get out of hand. I was just trying to make the point that these crossbows are quite lethal at longer yardages - but that you might want to up the weight a bit to make sure. Although I would never try it, I think my 575gr arrow would pass through a deer at 100 yards - it just m...

Congratulations Hester - great job on the deer - AND on remembering where he came from in the first place! Enjoy it - or share with it someone who needs it.
