Re: The 405 Eagle has Landed

July 20,1969. Fort Benning, in the heat! They actually stood us at parade rest so we could watch it: standing in the sun, in the heat! Was going thru basic training.

Re: Caustic or inappropriate posts

Concerning Doug's board, there are just so many true authorities on there now. The true initial innovators were Rick Bibby(RB, rip) and Mark Edgerton (Edge). Just go experience this board if you're interested in any kind of MLing. The info is there!
To me, this board is the xbow equivalent.

What a great choice! I really like the NULA! Unless you want warp speed, a much more practical MLer, IMO .

Re: Caustic or inappropriate posts

I'm a long time member of Doug's Smokeless Powder MLing board. These personal vendettas virtually never go on there. Really?!? I quit that board years ago because of Randy Wakeman and his fan boys. Every board I've ever been on has had its problems (including Doug's), and every person has to decide...

Caustic or inappropriate posts

A sad thing happened. I got a PM asking me a question by a member who was hesitant to make the post on the board due to concern of receiving a demeaning response . That's sad. Incidentally , I didn't have a good answer for his very appropriate question. I'm a long time member of Doug's Smokeless Pow...

Re: FOC Broadhead

SEW - I see what you mean, but I will admit I am biased away from mechs due to my previous experience with Rage 2 blades from my Horton Legend XL. Lost a big buck I hit right behind the shoulder at about 8 yds, from the ground. Arrow only went in a few inches. He bled like hell but I never found hi...

Re: FOC Broadhead

I hope this isn't a deal breaker for some, but I occasionally don't get passthru's with the FOCs: xbows used - Strykeforce, SZ380,M380/405. The deer that don't have pass-thru's usually go down quicker. Blood trails seem to be no problem even when no pass-thru. I usually see the deer hit the ground f...

Re: Full Disclosure - Bad Shots - Lost Deer

I must be the luckiest deer hunter alive: 182 recoveries out of 187 hits. 2 gun losses, 3 arrow. 1st) Arrow loss - late 80s or early 90s. Pearson Flame, 28" draw, 29" 2219/Bear Super Razorhead(145g), bow 85#(only year I shot that high of #age). Large 12-pt, still hunting, got to w/i 25 yds...

Re: FOC Broadhead

M380/405 - Boo string/string silencers, 396g arrows 363 & 393'/sec. Now shooting 406g arrows: haven't chrono'd them. Out to 50 yds, fp and FOC w/i an inch or so. Beyond that starts to diverge quite a bit. I've indexed at 3&9(though 6&12 likely is better). Best to sacrifice a couple of FO...

Re: FOC Broadhead

Crap, I just bought Toxics to try and now I read this Don't be disappointed with the toxics. I'm shooting the same setup as Sew but with 92gr brass inserts and 100gr points. He's got an extra 5 gr up front but I'm still hitting 1"-1 1/2" spots at 65yards(as far as I've tested them) with r...

John, There appears to be light at the end of the tunnel. As encouragement, my wife is now 11 years with good check ups. 8 chemo treatments and 40 radiation : seemed like forever. Your "forever" will soon be over! From here on out, every day will will be brighter, will be more cherished, y...

Re: Sharing info is why we're here so here's the next questi

1) Use less rail lub or use dry lub. 2) more rounded edges of string holding prongs. Make'm like Excal's. 3) only use FOCs 4) read Boo's entire website periodically 5) countersink the scope holding mount, and secure Fasenal bolts with blue LT 6) blue Locktite every bolt. 7) discipline myself to use ...
