Re: Cleaning the rail and serving?

Hmmmm...interesting. I never thought of using sheep skin to rub the rail down. It sure won't hurt anything. I might have to give that a try.

Re: Cleaning the rail and serving?

On my Horton CB's I use lube on the rail and put wax on the string and serving. On the Excal's you are only supposed to put wax on the string & serving and nothing on the rail. I think there maybe a couple of different opinions on that too. I've heard some say to wax the string and not the servi...

Re: Cleaning the rail and serving?

Yup...its black like pitch. Its silicone with graphite. Makes the rail and serving feel really tacky. I think it'll attract dust like a magnet. I have been using scorpion venom wax on all my other CB, but was thinking about switching to the Dalton wax. Do you think it'll be OK or should I try to cle...

Cleaning the rail and serving?

I just got my new Vortex today.....yahoo!! The dealer I bought it from had already put it together. Let's just say he's an archery dealer that is just getting into crossbows so he's pretty new to the game. He had most of it right and I really appreciated what he was trying to do for me. He has an in...

Re: What crossbow for with a bad neck?

Hey Riflemanz! Sounds like you're sort of in the same boat as I am...'cept mine...the neck is just the top of the problem. The rest of the folks here have given you some good advice. Basically I think you should lay "hands on" to find out what will work best for your amount of physical lim...

Re: X-act broadheads

I've had some BH that'll fly perfectly and others that won't group well enough to hunt with. My one CB that I hunt with is a tack driver. I can shoot most anything out of it and it hits consistently. I had one CB recently that I couldn't get to hit the broad side of a barn wall 2 days in a row. It w...

Re: Excalibur shipping time

He's a local archery dealer that is listed as an Excalibur dealer from Minnesota on Excal's dealer list. He took one of my CB's in on trade. The one I traded him was a CB that I purchased late last summer. It was by another manufacturer that I won't say negative things about. Lets just say that CB a...

Re: Excalibur shipping time

I have no idea. When I made the trade with him it sounded like they would ship it in a short time after he ordered it. I'm hoping it comes soon. I have so wanted a CB that has the consistant accuracy of the Excaliburs. I haven't had that with the other lesser quality CB's that I've owned. My wife al...

Excalibur shipping time

I made a deal with my local dealer on a trade for a new Vortex CB after Christmas. He said he was going to order it when he was at the trade show. I talked to him yesterday. He said he ordered it when he was at the show but, hasn't seen it yet. OK...I know I'm like a kid waiting for Christmas here.....

Re: X-act broadheads

That sounds kind of like the Grim Reaper razortips I was trying last fall. I was using one as my practice head and by about the 3rd or 4th shot one blade opened on the way to the target from 40 yards. I never knew an arrow could make a 90 degree turn like that. Never did find that arrow! :(

X-act broadheads

Has anyone tried Excal's X-act mechanical BH? Just wondering how they would shoot on the end of a Firebolt.

Re: Best set up for a Vortex?

I've tried both carbons and aluminum, but have had better luck with the carbon. I've used the G5 Strikers and they seem pretty good. They've gotten the job done very well anyway! Tried mechanicals last year, but never had a chance to shoot at anything with fur. Seemed to be OK on paper. Ever used Gr...

Re: Best set up for a Vortex?

OK...forget I said.....save money!!! I know that never happens when it comes to this kind of passion. I get the impression though....that at least starting with the Excal basics I'll do all right. That's what I needed to know from folks that have been there before. Thanks much!
