Re: String builders thread
Understood about your offer to help, Boo. I would just suggest, there were some things that would benefit people up front instead of after the mistake was made. Or, maybe more commonly, tips they can incorporate to make a better string instead of one that is simply just serviceable. Examples could i...

String builders thread
After many years of building my own bow strings, I've built a few crossbow strings and realized there are some meaningful differences. How about a thread where we share some lessons learned for those who might be interested in doing this for themselves? I'm happy to start with one observation: 1. Bu...

Re: 405 Matrix Why Not the Tact-Zone?
@Tim50 There are a lot of possible reasons why the 380 got the Tac Zone. The first could be that they knew and had already planned the 405 coming out. Another reason is that they probably have a contract with the source of the Tac Zone and they are pursuing quality control improvements. IMO, the sho...

Re: Matrix 380
They make a dual stage specific for the heavier draw weights of the Matrix bows. The travel shouldn't be the difference but the weight of the trigger pull. It will be 2.5 lbs for the Matrix specific 2 stage trigger where the non-Matrix 2 stage will be getting up towards 3 lbs. Check out the chart at...

Re: 405 Matrix Why Not the Tact-Zone?
Matrix Mega is their "top of the line" crossbow and the DLX is their "top of the line" scope. If I had to take a guess, that is why. If they didn't put their "best" scope on their "best" crossbow, I'm sure we would be asking a different "why?" With a...

Re: Why would I
The 380 could be preferred by shooters who want to shoot an extra heavy arrow while keeping up arrow speed and flatter trajectory. Some would make the case that it makes more financial sense if you plan on getting the REDS, cheek piece, and ADF. However, a little shopping around and the right phone ...

Uncocking the 405
After spending the weekend building a couple of strings for my 355, I started to wonder if anyone had uncocked a 405. While I'm sure it is possible, I bet it's a pretty heavy load. Can any of the privileged few speak to this? In that same line of thinking, do compound manufacturers discourage the ma...

Re: Discontinuing Models
I hear they sold the E series bows to Hoyt so they can enter crossbow market. Bowtech just keeping the SMF and Matrix series. I don't know how these rumors keep coming up. Everyone knows that the E series bows have been taken over by the Illuminati at the behest of the Skull and Bones society. It i...

Re: Danny Millers price list?
What is the difference? Trigger pull weight. When you start going up in draw weight, the trigger pull goes up. When you start getting up into the Matrix line draw weights, the trigger pull will be 2.8 lbs and 3.0 lbs for the 355 and 380 respectively. The Matrix trigger is designed to keep it at 2.5...

Re: Do you think
Could be the 405 needs it at the heavier draw weight. The trigger on my 355 has a bit of creep but really not bad. I expect it will also get better with time. The Triggertech page shows how trigger pull weight goes up with draw weight. Friction on surface areas must be more noticeable the heavier th...

Re: Help with first crossbow - Ibex vs. Matrix
I had the same choice to make and handled both. The compactness on the 355 is noticeable but the Ibex is certainly manageable and is more than enough for deer. My son is 5' 5" at 12 years old and my wife is 5' 2" <age omitted to preserve marital tranquility>. They can both shoot the 355 ve...

Re: The straight goods on Bowtech and Excalibur
Bill and Kath have poured their lives into this company over the past 30 years. During that time, they have been instrumental in the advancing of crossbow hunting in Canada and the US. Considering the hard earned reputation they've built, a little faith seems reasonable.

Re: Price and availability on matrix 330
Power stroke is the distance from full draw to brace height. Draw length is substantially longer than power stroke and there should be no problem with the 330.

Re: matrix blew apart
Kind of what I was thinking Andrew. I guess I was mainly looking at it from the company's point of view and the cost of warranty coverage. As Boo mentions, someone either has done the math or will do the math and the chips will fall where they will.

Re: matrix blew apart
This does beg the question as to why REDS and the ADF aren't offered as part of the 355 package. I have to assume that the final retail cost and differentiation from the 380 is part of the reason but when it comes to cost to the company in terms of warranty coverage, it could tip the scales. Excalib...
