Re: Arrow length for hunting - state regs

Nitro,

I am also a CT hunter. I just use 18 inch bolts and call it a day. I like the extra weight. I actually got stopped last year by a DEEP officer and he pulled out a measuring tape and measured my bolts. I cut them to 18.125 to have a cushion.

Re: Dall Sheep Hunt Give Away!

I ran into Greg McHale at the SCI convention in Nashville and spent about 20 minutes talking with him. He is a great guy and his enthusiasm level is off the charts. He is right up there with Fred Eichler as far as enthusiasm goes.

Venison Chili

I have a lot of ground venison in the freezer and have the itch to make chili. If anybody has a good recipe to share I would appreciate it.

Thanks!

It's a useless PIA. Have the center served and be done with it.
Hey Don, PIA?

I like the idea of having the center served. That's a great tip!

Plastic Tube On String Changer

I went to Cabela’s yesterday afternoon to pick up a new string changer and noticed they no longer come with the plastic tube that protects the string.

Does anybody know of a source for buying these tubes?

New Scope Adjustments

Last year I put the Vortex scope om my Bulldog 440. I like the 30mm tube and the illuminated reticle but was not thrilled with the main crosshairs being at 40 yards as 95% of all my shots are between 20 and 30 yards, I lost a nice 8-point buck last year as I hit him too high in no man’s land. In the...

Re: New KUIU PROXIMITY Whitetail series clothing sells out

I am a huge fan of KUIU gear and use it most of the time but for stand hunting whitetails in extreme cold weather I have found that nothing beats the First Lite Sanctuary Jacket and bib pants. In extreme cold it's bullet proof.

Re: In Three Months

So, I just got back to CT from my Yukon moose hunt. It was a great experience and was better than I could have possibly imagined. It was a true adventure. I got a great 57-inch bull that they estimated at 1,600 pounds and 7 1/2 years old. His rack is awesome and I could not be happier. He will be a ...

Re: In Three Months

Don, Lot's of anxiety about getting there. It's a long trip from CT with multiple plane changes. CT to Chicago, Chicago to Vancouver. Have to get all my gear off the belt in Vancouver, then go through customs to register my firearm and then get on a domestic Air Canada flight to Whitehorse (all in t...

Re: In Three Months

So I leave for Whitehorse in just 9 days. Can't wait. I got the duffle bags all packed up and I am ready to go. I clear customs in Vancouver and then have to catch the flight to Whitehorse so I hope the Vancouver airport is not to big. Hopefully I will get some nice photos of the trip I can share. N...

Re: In Three Months

I will post pictures if I can ever figure out how to do that on this site. You are going to have a Blast!! Lived in Inuvik NWT for a considerable time period, and successfully hunted all those on your list. The Caribou in my Avatar came from the Northern Yukon. Going with a guide or do it...

Re: In Three Months

I Glad to hear that its coming to fruition! Excellent! It will be a tough hunt I'm sure. The year I hunted elk in the Wyoming mountains, I cycled hard and long every day for 6 months. What are you doing to get ready for it? I have been been backpacking with some weight about 10 miles every...
