Re: Lumenoks
I love my lumenoks. The added weight at the rear of the arrow did change my arrow flight a little but I sighted in and practice with that setup and its good to go. One thing to note is that on carbon shafts, the little contact wires will eventually make little concave dents in the end of the shaft a...

Re: Pig Hunt 2017
What caliber AR....and what bullet grain? I used Remington Hog Hammer ammo in .223 (64gr solid copper Barnes X bullet). Shot slightly under a 1 MOA group at 75 yds off the bench on my final 3 shots of sighting in before the trip. Put 3 down on the spot. My AR is the Ruger SR556 Takedown, topped wit...

Re: spray foam in rail
For me the objective was to make it more enjoyable to shoot. I didn't like the bright metallic clink sound so I packed the rail with foam and now it's a nice dull "thunk". Makes my backyard shooting more pleasurable. I never asked a deer or a hog if the noise bothers them, and I've never h...

Re: spray foam in rail
I've had the same thought but heard it's a real mess and tough to remove should you ever need to. Why not try stuffing it with rags or foam from a kids swimming noodle thing. Paul X2. I used discarded white poly foam packing material (same stuff as swim noodles) and cut into strips slightly larger ...

Re: Bow Noise/Decibel meter
I played around with a few iPhone decibel meter apps when I was doing some testing a few years ago. Looking at the averages over many shots I could see a little bit of difference between a 350 grain arrow and 400 gr, and some minor differences between strings, but it was really erratic. I wouldn't c...

Re: More Knife Stuff
Be careful Paul, when the hair grows back it's twice as thick, you'll have gorilla arms before long  I also strop my blades with a leather strop with green jeweler's rouge. There's better stuff out there, like diamond paste, etc, but this works good for me. They say when you strop to maintain t...

Re: Locking your climber
A heavy chain and one of those round locks you can't get a pair of bolt cutters on might deter someone, but if somebody wants it bad enough they'll get it. Only way to be sure is to take it with you when you leave.
