Re: New Chronograph results
Your bow is faster than mine. My Bulldog averaged 385 fps with 350 grain setup, 376 fps with 370 grain setup, 367 fps with 400 grain setup, and 358 fps with 420 grain setup. Those speeds were with the stock string and nothing on the bow. I'm shooting a slightly heavier Flemish twist string now that ...

Re: Getting Interesting
Things changed fast for me. Lots of new scrapes opened up. Saw an 8 pointer and a 10 pointer yesterday on an evening hunt an hour and a half before shooting time was up. The 8 rubbed every tree he passed it seemed and was constantly making blowing sounds like a dog sneezing. Also made some scrapes. ...

Re: At least I heard a deer
It's tough hunting when you aren't seeing anything, but hang in there. I killed my biggest buck, 155-160" 11 pointer during a bow season when I barely saw anything. That was after a couple of years of the DNR trying to eradicate CWD by killing everything that moved. The only solace is that with...

Congratulations. That brute has a fantastically thick neck on him. He's a fighter. You might have saved the lives of some other bucks by taking that 10 when you did.

Re: Coyotes got to my 13 pointer before I did.
Congratulations on a great buck. You still have the backstraps and the cape looks untouched up by the shoulders, so all is not lost. Coyotes are way too numerous and what occurred with your buck is very common. Studies have shown coyotes will wipe out 50-80% of fawns. We need to bring their numbers ...

Re: No Tag Soup This Season Pics. added
Dang. Sounds like a mess. In Wisconsin, a crossbow or regular archery license (for use with vertical bows) costs $24 for residents, $160 for nonresidents. With that license, you can shoot one buck and one doe in most zones. Some zones up north have a deer population well below carrying capacity and ...

Been there. Expecting in December. I was convinced we were having a boy but genetics and Ultrasound showed a girl. I have heard many stories since of girls being more into hunting than boys. I think the key is to get them involved early and to make it fun. Congratulations.

Your state's bow season is already over? No rut hunting possible for bow hunters? That's a shame and a crime. Glad you secured venison on the last day. Congratulations.

It turned out to be a beautiful day in Pennsylvania, indeed. Penn State upset Ohio State. Woohoo!!! Wisconsin should have got them last week. Good job Nittany Lions.
Nice pics, too.

Very cool that you got one of the bucks you caught on the trail cam. Nice deer. Congratulations.

Re: Getting Interesting
Call the slob hunters what they are, poachers and criminals. Shooting at deer from the road is not only unethical and illegal, it's dangerous. Sadly, it occurs far too often. Every year I seem to come across it. As a matter of fact, just last night I heard someone joke about their retirement giving ...

Re: finally got out for a evening hunt
Sounds like a good start. My nicest bucks haven't shown up on camera since late August. They moved to the crop fields and the lack of acorn production this year hasn't given them enough of a reason to stick around. I kept a decent number of does around with my little food plots, though, so hopefully...

Re: What a day Friday was!
That's the first time I have ever heard anyone say they purposefully shot a button buck. Haha. I don't think young deer taste as good as deer a few years older. They seem bland and watery to me. So even when I'm hunting for a doe I'm looking for one that's 2 1/2 or 3 1/2 years old. Hope you get all ...

Re: 2017 EXCALIBURS
Basically, it looks like they just shortened the rail 1/2" to make the Bulldog 380. I bet if I measured my Bulldog 400's draw weight at the 13.5" mark it would be around 260 pounds vs the 280 pounds at 14" mark. So I bet they are using the same limbs on both bows. And as mentioned abo...

Re: Excalibur Bulldog 400
I presently shoot 150 grain Magnus Stingers and Gold Tip Swift Pros. I prefer 100 grain heads from my GT Swift Pros, however, because I get a lot less drop between 40 and 60 yards due to the lower FOC and overall weight. So I'm thinking of switching to Grim Reaper mechanicals at 100 grains. I'm not ...
