Re: It,s Here
That's a cool looking bow and a good excuse for a 380. I'd like to see what a mixture of Nightmare and Lynx parts would look like on a frankenbow build.

Re: Yet another broad head "I need opinion" post
I did not like Spitfires when I shot them years ago from my compound, so I won't try them from my crossbow. My two top mechanical head choices would be RamCats and Grim Reapers. The Reapers flew great from my compound and left easy following blood trails. It would be my first mechanical head choice....

Re: Matrix strings length
Excalibur calls the Bulldog 400 a Matrix Bulldog 400. This model may not apply to you, though. The Bulldog spec string is reportedly 1/2" shorter than other Matrix models, 30.5" vs 31". It's probably close enough that you could twist a Matrix string to Bulldog length though, if that's...

Re: If you were going to change from stock to aftermarket ..
Gold Tip Swift Pro fletched with Blazer vanes using Arizona Archery EZ Bolt fletching tool worked good for me. They shoot good out of my Bulldog, and I've shot them out of Micros and Exos too. I'd stick with 16.5" if not a hint longer. Longer shafts are easier to pull from targets and find on f...

Re: Are excaliburs a drug????
They are fun to shoot, no doubt. But my Bear Kodiak delivers more pleasure and delivers it at a faster pace (shot rate not fps). The bow is nicer to look at and weighs a few ounces as opposed to multiple pounds. Feather fletched, cedar grained arrows are more aesthetically pleasing than short little...

Re: Grunting for Deer
First off, I think most grunt tubes are way too deep. Even the bruisers I've heard grunting give off a nasally, metallic sounding grunt. Second, my success with them seems to be area specific. I used to hunt an area where bucks came in to grunting. But now I'm in a different area and these deer appa...

Re: Letting bow down?
Lol. Yes, it's a lot easier to let it down than one would expect. I wonder how many people shoot their bolts at the end of a hunt because they fear letting it down themselves. I know a couple of people that won't try it.

Re: A dandy 9 point with my new Matrix 380
Congratulations. Would love to see some pictures. And let me suggest hunting the rest of the season with a video camera. Shooting and later watching video you shoot of bucks chasing does, making scrapes, rubbing trees, or just cruising around is great fun. Think of it as catch and release deer hunti...

Re: Broadheads made Where?
I agree with the above posts. I will pay more for a US (or Canadian) product because I know better quality comes along with the price, for the most part. Every now and then though I get suckered into buying cheap Chinese crap from supposedly US companies, see Vortex scopes. I sold my Vortex POS and ...

Re: New stringer review
I think those plastic sleeves scar the trigger latches that hold the string when cocked. When I bought my Bulldog, my latches seemed fine and I did not see much latch related wear on the serving. After I started playing around with brace height, which necessitated use of the stringing aid and employ...

Re: Hunt Area Help
Well, I'm not sure how you define a creek, but if your creek is significant enough for boat traffic or even canoeing, the deer might be used to poachers taking shots at them from the water. So they won't travel much during daylight hours close to the banks. You said your stands were 50 yards from th...

Nice job getting that deer to come in to 15 yards. The shorter the shot the more impressive it is in my book. Well done

Re: Journaling
I also keep a hunting journal with weather conditions, stand locations and wildlife sightings. Trail cam pics also serve as a journal of sorts. At the end of the year I then summarize patterns I found, like hunting stand X in a NW wind between 11:00 am and 1:30 pm. But the biggest benefit comes from...
