Re: First deer of 2012

Thanks again guys. Got it deboned today, cut into smaller pieces and packed away in freezer bags. I'll thaw it out and grind it into sausage as I need it. Congrats as well. Been pretty quiet over here in watauga county but lots of great sign near my stands. The weather has finally started to coopera...

Re: First deer of 2012

Thanks a lot guys. It sure was a good morning. Our season came in last Saturday and I haven't seen a lot of deer but this one was close enough. I always like breaking the ice with the first one and then the pressure is off. Congrats! Nice doe and I love the extra white meat you got with that one. It...

First deer of 2012

Took my first deer of the year this morning. It was also the first deer with my new Ibex that I got back in the spring. A doe came out at 6:45 and walked around feeding for a little while. Before she got to my tracks where I had walked in I let the arrow go. She was about 12 steps from my tree. The ...

Re: Arrow retainer arm goof

I bent mine too. Somebody on here suggested using a small block of wood. Put it underneath the retainer and slide it back toward the trigger assembly. That worked for me. Bent it back just right.

Check out KillZone blinds. I have one of the Turrets and it's very good and not too expensive.

Re: Opening day

I can't shoot'em like that either.

I watched 2 of last years fawns and their mom this morning. The young ones were having a big time chasing each other and acting a fool while the old doe was watching and nibbling on acorns. :)

Beautiful morning too.

Re: treestand lifeline

I have done a ton of research on this very subject and started making my own lifelines last year. With the amount of forces generated in just a short fall or slip, my opinion is that hunters are best served using rope made just for that, climbing rope. For example, weigh yourself on your bathroom sc...

I just bought a Treewalker climber. I'm 5'11" and 215#. It's plenty big and comfortable for me. It weighs 19 #.

Re: Gearing up ..cant wait!!

Our season also starts Sept. 8 and I can hardly wait. This year I am using a Shadow Zone sighted in at 25 yds. I've been shooting it for a couple months and it works very well. All I have to do is be sure the shot is 30 yards or closer. At 30 yds it's about 3" low. From 5 to 25 yards I just hol...

Re: Excalibur cheekpiece

It should fit. I put one on mine and it was a little hard to snap on but it did.
I think theres a video that shows how to snap it on. I think its on the website but not sure where I saw it.
