I Walk the Line

I read with interest the thread regarding Bill T and his recent elephant hunt. And I was alarmed when I read some negative comments pertaining to this hunt. I thought I would post my thoughts and invite you to post yours. This is always a tough subject to deal with. My hunting buddy Shrader killed a...

I'd buy a new Excalibur Phoenix and keep the Emag for a back up. The Phoenix has some interesting attributes. Thats exactly what I did. I love my old carved tip exocet but I wanted a back up and I chose the Phoenix for its size and the string options the mag tips bring to the table. Now if I could ...

Doctors & Guns - We Must Take Action Immediatly!

A buddy of mine sent this to me and I thought some of you may find this interesting. I had some time on my hands today and decided to do some research regarding firearms and physicians. What I found was so astounding that I felt obligated to share my findings with my fellow forum members. Here are s...

When I first joined this forum (didn't even have my carved tip exocet yet) I wrote two posts on this subject. I pasted the two posts below along with a couple of pictures. As most of you know, I am an antler "freak" and only hunt mature 150 and above bucks. The only reason I mention this i...

You just have to love mini guns. Some will fire 6000 rounds/min. Every year I go to the machine gun shoot down around Ft. Knox Kentucky and you see several in operation. They sound like someone ripping paper when they put a few thousand rounds through them. Oh, and the best part, you can rent some o...

Just my two cents worth but I also agree with the .243 for deer. I own just about all calibers but I shoot a .243 (also a Sako Forrester, isn't it just a delight Dr. Dan) better then my other rifles. I don't know if it is just the caliber or if it is the Sako, but my second best shooting rifle is al...

Here is my latest buck while still in progress at my taxidermist. For the sake of scale, I am 6'2" tall and weigh 245 lbs.

I would say you are 100% correct due to the prickly pear cactus shown in the upper left corner.

I have threatened to put my taxidermist on a retainer, it could be less expensive for me in the long run with the number of animals I have brought to him over the years. I have every species of duck indigenous to north America mounted as well as the other usual suspects, geese, turkey and pheasants....

A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum

It’s not my fault really. One of you guys did it! One of you sent my little tale to a publisher. I wasn’t going to say anything about it and just leave well enough alone but when the thread was brought back to life this morning, I felt that I owed you an explanation. I was contacted by a very large ...

Thanks Woody. Did you notice that this buck looked “goofy eyed”? Your top picture shows it pretty good. The taxidermist should be flogged! Way too much white in the eyes, looks like he is looking in different directions with his right and left eye. There were lots of us standing around in front of t...

Ohio Deer Expo & the Amish Buck

We had a great time at the Ohio Deer & Turkey Expo this past weekend. We saw several Excalibur’s but none of the new models. There were hundreds of fantastic Ohio bucks entered this year, and of course the Amish Buck was included in these numbers. The bucks on display only reinforced what I and ...
