Re: Semi Nubie hunting questions
Height isn't everything as you have seen. Sometimes a person can stick out more at a higher height than they will down lower. It depends on the vegetation around you. I like to position my ladder stands in a clump of trees with branches sticking out at the same height as my platform and body. I also...

Re: Two down in four trips
Well done. What were the shots like? Broadside, quartering, elevated, ground blind, right in the boiler room, a little forward into the shoulder? I ask because I'm using 150 grain fixed blades on my stock Diablos now, but I shoot 100 grain tips on my Gold Tip shafts and I haven't selected which head...

Re: Thoughts on wrapping the stirrup in paracord?+checkingSc
I wrapped two strips of beaver fur string silencers on either side of the stirrup then wrapped the stirrup with the cord. It does help with vibration and the strands of hair sticking through the rope give it a cool primitive look. Haha. After all, you are wrapping the stirrup primarily to increase y...

Fantastic buck! I'd love to take a drop tine buck. A double like that one might make me jump out of my stand.

Re: Need a couple new Excals, anything to stay away from?
You asked about the Bulldog in particular. The Bulldog is a very nice handling bow but there are some minor downsides to be aware of. One, while Excalibur put out a YouTube video of it shooting 397 and 399, most posts that I've read indicate that they usually chrono in the 380s, which mine did also....

Re: Field point comparison to broadheads
Think of it this way, you're testing each individual arrow/bolt as much as you are the broadhead. For example, on each arrow/bolt, you're looking for a bad insert that may not be obvious after installation but shows itself in flight because it slightly misaligns the broadhead. So all other shafts mi...

Re: shooting chronographs
I picked up a Caldwell Ballistic for around $70 and it works fine indoors and outside for my archery tackle. I already had numerous tripods so I did not buy the kit. In low light or indoors, I shoot without the sun shades.

Re: New Micro 335 Owner
In my experience, the stock arrows/bolts shoot more accurate with 150 grain heads. If I were you, I would shoot the stock quills with 150 grain heads and order up or fletch yourself up some custom bolts and use those with the lighter head weight.

Re: Fastest Moose hunt ever using Ramcat BH
Congratulations. Nice job. And in my experience, whenever I pass up an opportunity because it comes "too soon" after the opener, I usually end up eating my tag. Haha. So don't feel bad about getting one early. You can always hunt with a camera.

Re: Did I pull the trigger too quick?
First, I think the Micro 335 Nightmare is the best looking crossbow out there. Second, it's an awesome bow for close quarter hunting. Third, it feels very solid at the shot. It's a fun bow to shoot and is highly effective. Hard to beat that combo.

Re: Dr Stirrup db killer bumpers - Length?
I incorrectly stated the difference in length between the two bumpers. dB Killer Bumpers are 3/16" longer than Excalibur bumpers, not 3/8". The manufacturer has a video on YouTube that explains installation and how his bumpers work and why they are better than the stock bumpers.

Re: Dr Stirrup db killer bumpers - Length?
They are purposefully designed to be longer, by 3/8" I believe. Brace height wouldn't normally need to change unless the string was set up closer to the REDS than the 3/8" difference in bumper lengths.

Re: Interesting chrono, FOC, and real world results
I think the best quality about this bow is how well it shoots offhand. I knew I would be taking more offhand shots at deer than shooting using a rest. That's why I chose the Bulldog. It felt the best on the shoulder and balanced fantastically. It's a great offhand shooter and I'm not about to trade ...
