And elk are bigger critters! :)

My wildest (hunting) daydream is that my sons and I are on the ridge and an elk walks out and all 3 of us send lighted luminoks flying at the elk. It would be like 4th of July!

Heck Yeah
I know. I’m having a great time. Took the bow for a hike through the woods today looking for the bear. Didn’t see him. (Did a few times a week last fall with a rifle and never saw him.). My best chance, I think, is to catch him doing his usual raid on my place.

Re: Nikon P3 Crossbow scope. WOW!

I am having so much fun with this new scope. I have complete confidence in it which makes shooting so much more enjoyable. (If I’m off, I know it’s just me, not the scope.) I wanted to get it sighted in like I have my sons’ bows for hunting (with a 30 yard zero—so we can pretty much use the crosshai...

Re: Nikon P3 Crossbow scope. WOW!

Maybe the labradoodle (named Teddy) will protect my goats and chickens from the bear and I won’t have to shoot him?? Probably not. I’ll try to shoot him. Still haven’t seen sign of him or caught him on the game cam. I have this weekend off and can do a little hunting.

Re: Nikon P3 Crossbow scope. WOW!

I hardly had time to shoot tonight and was so looking forward to doing so. Sad that I was very frustrated doing family activities when all I wanted to do was shoot my bow with the new scope. I was only able to take 4 shots. My far fenceline is right at 100 paces from my target. Hit the target each t...

Re: Strange thing happened with Dead Zone

So I got the Nikon and all I can say is WOW! However, as I took the Dead Zone off the bow, I noticed the eyepiece lens was loose and rattled as I shook the scope. This week, I had noticed that a small rubber gasket had fallen half out of place on the eyepiece lens. I shoved it back in place with my ...

Nikon P3 Crossbow scope. WOW!

Suffice to say that I’ve been having trouble with Dead Zone scopes. So.... I bought a Nikon P3 Crossbow scope. I am a very positive person so will not elaborate on my troubles with the Dead Zone. (By the way, is the eyepiece lens supposed to rattle audibly?— noticed that as I took the Dead Zone off ...

Re: Strange thing happened with Dead Zone

You’re right. I’ll stop worrying about it and when the Nikon arrives on Friday, I’ll enjoy it.

Re: Strange thing happened with Dead Zone

I’m looking forward to the Nikon but the Dead Zone is shooting quite decent (I shoot everyday). Keep thinking about how I had to slow down my speed dial for half a day while my 20 yard zero was still dead on. (Disclaimer, this is a crazy idea.) That day, the weather was changing drastically. (Ok, he...

Re: What kind of deflection numbers are there for BD400, 420,440 bows?

I had the same thought as you after i got the new limbs. Wondered if Dawn slipped me some "super duper Assasin limbs". My speed dial jumped up 20 fps with the new limbs. I only used a chronograph (at the local bow shop) after I got my forward riser and shot 326.

Re: Strange thing happened with Dead Zone

I know I will be happy with it. The Nikon is on its way. Regarding the “zero and hold”, I want to try that this summer and see how my instincts are for holding above the target. Kind of like using a vertical bow without sights. It will be fun. At reasonable hunting distances, you don't need to hold...

Re: Strange thing happened with Dead Zone

Do you know if you ordered an older discontinued bolt or the new prostaff crossbow? I was just wondering if there was much difference I looked a little (not hard) for the older "Bolt" but couldn't find one. Ordered the Prostaff which i presume is the same thing. Got medium leopold rings f...

Re: Strange thing happened with Dead Zone

Boy, now that I figured some of this out, I almost want to cancel my order on the Nikon and just use low (clear) power for my 20 yard bear shot. (Scope holds zero fine.) I know I would love the Nikon. But, if I have the same scope sighted in the same as my sons and I’m coaching them through a shot a...

Re: Strange thing happened with Dead Zone

The Dead Zone is blurry now, just as it was before. Now I know why it was clear for a day. My scope is clear at very low power and it gets blurry as I move it up. (It’s clear at 300 and blurry at 330 (and really blurry at 400).). Both the boys Dead Zones are that way too. (Their bows shoot around 30...
