The biggest game changer for me of the last few years is using the On X Hunt app on my phone. For me it's been a paradigm shift on how I scout and hunt new properties.
It's been a huge game changer for me!

Re: Hawk crawler deer cart update
The box weighed just over 50 pounds which is expensive to ship so I expect that's why they charged for shipping.

Re: How many of you are ready to roll?
I am almost ready Don.
Bows are ready along with bolts and broadheads. Everything is dialed in at the right yardages.
Three new stands hung over the last four weeks and the last new stand is getting hung this weekend. I should be ready to go by next week and I start hunting on October 2nd.

Re: 7mm-08
If it were me I would shy away from 120 grain loads as I prefer heavy for caliber bullets for the increased sectional density. As you are shooting at distances of 150 yards or less I feel the Nosler Partition would be ideal. You can load the 140 grain to 2,800 fps and the 150 grain to 2,700. Both wo...

Re: VORTEX CROSSFIRE II CROSSBOW SCOPE QUESTION
I had the same concerns about the reticle layout but now that I have been shooting with it all summer I have gotten used to it. With the speed adjustment dial I now have the 20, 30 and 40 yards hash marks dead nuts. That being said I would agree that the reticle is overly complicated and there is ce...

Re: F.O.C.
I have spent the last few months reading a lot about overall weight and F.O.C and testing different setups with different F.O.C percentages and would say you are right in the sweet spot at around 19%-20%. Higher overall weight and high F.O.C significantly improves momentum and penetration. I am usin...

Dr. Ed Ashby
I just finished listening to one of the latest MeatEater podcast episode 284 "The Archer's Paradox" in which they interviewed Dr Ed Ashby for almost two and a half hours. It's an excellent listen and I learned a lot.

Re: Hunting Moose with a Crossbow??
I am doing a moose hunt next year in the Yukon but am using a 340 Weatherby mag. If I were to use a crossbow I agree that extra weight would be very beneficial and would be looking to be in the 500-600 grain total weight range and I might sleeve the front end of my shafts for extra FOC and stiffness...
