I saw a small road killed buck today that still had his headgear. It may still be a little early here.

Mount completed.
I picked up my 'combo' mount bagged by my wife and I over the weekend. He is the 8pt on the left. My wife bagged him the week before Thanksgiving 2004 with a well placed bumper of my Ford Focus. I guess you could say she dropped him right in his tracks. He was chasing a doe and my wife ...

Re: When's your best part of the deer season?
Mid October until Mid November are my favorites. I've harvested a handful of deer in late season, but just noticed that I have never bagged a buck after November. Its always doe. I'm also a little burnt out by the time December rolls around because I spend a lot of time in the woods when the hunting...

Re: Well how well did you do?
An average season. I bagged six. A 5pt and two doe with my Exomax, two doe with my compound bow and a nice 9pt with my muzzleloader. For the first the first time in a few years I did not fire a shot with a rifle. Doe season is open until the end of March so I may punch a tag for some jerky meat. Duc...

Re: Va is snowed in
We've got 24" here so far. Hopefully it stops sometime soon. Butt deep snow is just no fun at all.

A mature doe is indeed smart. But she is in no way, shape or form a more formidable target than a mature buck. It isn't even close. During the rut, I think a mature doe can certainly be a more formidable target. Many a big buck has lowered his guard while trailing a hot doe. When the chase is on mo...

I don't save any organs or the ribs. Everything else gets boned out and made into steaks or roasts. I trim away all fat and silverskin and only put away good red meat for consumption. I don't throw away any meat though except for the ribs. Everything that I don't package for human consumption gets p...

We built a deer cart using a old wheelchair as a starting point, now we got a 4 weeler . I find thought you just dont apericate the same. Most public land in these parts do not allow ATV use or I would be all over it. I own a cart, but most attempts to use it should end up on America's Funniest Hom...

Son bags a wet VA doe
Last Saturday was the rifle opening day in VA. It was wet in Northern Virginia. My son didn't bag one last season so was really looking forward to filling a tag this year. We got out there despite the weather bright and early. We climbed the mountain and was set up in a fallen treetop about 45 minut...

Rich, Two yotes chased a doe up on me in Northern VA on opening day of the archery season last month. A doe ran up on me as I was kneeling over my 5pt filling out my tag so I took her as well with the Exomax. Not 30 seconds later two yotes came walking through and I was kneeling there between two do...
